AKRON – Nicholas Beck, 17, Macy, and formerly of Akron, died Feb. 6, 2015, at his residence.
He was born June 23, 1997, in Whitley County, to Andrew E. Beck and Julie A. Carr.
He was a Tippecanoe Valley High School junior. In earlier years he played baseball, basketball and football. For many years and currently he was very involved in the TVHS soccer program, where he had been co-captain. He had received many academic awards that he displayed on his letter jacket. He was a member of, and enjoyed working out at, the Wellness Center of Rochester. Many people loved him.
Surviving are his mother, Julie Shepherd (and companion Barry Vigar), Macy; his father, Andrew Beck (and companion Tonia Smith), Rochester; second mom, Katrina Calloway, North Manchester; two sisters, Shana Lynn Leonhardt, Indianapolis, and Gracie Beck, Rochester; six brothers: Joshua (and spouse Angela) Bailey, and Noah Beck, all of North Manchester; Wade Beck, Rochester; Deontee Smith, Steven and Braydyn Poe, all of Rochester; grandparents, Diane and Paul Bravell, Fort Wayne; Dennis and Annette Ayres and Grace Kester, all of North Manchester; several cousins, aunts, uncles and a niece. He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Phillip Carr and Roger Guthrie.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Akron Church of God, 301 S. West St., Akron, with the Rev. Susan Keirn-Kester and Pastor Michael McFarland officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home Akron.
