I was given the opportunity to volunteer this summer at Combined Community Services with an open-armed staff waiting to greet my arrival. Thinking I would really enjoy and feel good about myself for doing community work, never expecting anything more, but I was deeply wrong.
I saw the face of poverty full blown and tugging at my heart day in and day out, trying to think of more ways to help. I never realized how you could ever feel so helpless until, for instance, when a mother came in asking for just a cake mix to make a cake for her daughter for her birthday, and when you look on the shelves you find not a one. This is the daily emotional feelings you feel when you are a staff member at CCS. I realize now why they are so happy for volunteers, food donations, school supplies, money for food, etc. To you I will keep you all in my prayers daily and thank you for your services to our very needy community.
As a resident of Kosciusko County, I was also very encouraged by our local businesses, media and churches throughout Kosciusko. When we asked for food, school supplies and money for such, you answered without hesitation time and again, and maybe everyone doesn't know who you are, but God does and I know that he will bless you for answering his call for our needy and I as well as CCS.
