Catherine Myrtle Laxton, 82, Warsaw, died at 11:32 p.m. Oct. 30, 2008, in Miller's Merry Manor.
She was born Dec. 26, 1925, in Mullins, W.Va., to Thomas and Cosby Jane Marshall Laxton.
In 1958, she moved to Fremont, Ohio, where she worked at Nickle's Bakery until retiring in 1988. After retirement, she moved to Warsaw to be near the ones she loved most. Besides God and family, her favorite passion was being a "Wal-Mart Missionary." She loved to go out to the store just to meet people, try to make them smile and give them encouraging words for the day, and say something about the love of her Savior Jesus Christ.
Surviving are a son, John D. (and spouse Cathy) Miller, Warsaw; three grandchildren: Jamie Miller and Chadd Shumaker, Warsaw; Jeremy and Rebekah Regier Miller, Chicago, Ill.; Justin and Tracie Winn Miller, Indianapolis; four great-grandchildren, Mikel Gordon, Blaine, Hailey and Madison Shumaker; and a brother, Carl Laxton, Las Vegas, Nev. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Laxton.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with John Miller and Don Taylor officiating.
