Sectional pairings for the 103rd Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament were announced Sunday evening. The Warsaw Tigers (10-9) open sectional action at Elkhart’s North Side Gym on Feb. 26 against host Elkhart Central (5-14) at 6 p.m. in Class 4A Sectional 4 action. On Jan. 8, the Tigers defeated Central 47-45 at North Side Gym. In Class 3A, Wawasee (5-14), and Tippecanoe Valley (16-3) drew each other for a first-round contest in Sectional 21 at Wawasee High School. Wawasee will actually be at Valley Friday night for the regular season finale between the two. The two take the court Feb. 26 following the 6 p.m. game between NorthWood (13-6) and West Noble (15-4). At Norwell High School, the Whitko Wildcats (5-14) will face Bellmont (4-14) on Feb. 26, following the 6 p.m. game between Eastbrook (7-11) and Norwell (13-5). On Dec. 1 at Bellmont, the Wildcats lost a 32-19 contest. Hosting Class 2A Sectional 37, the Manchester Squires (5-13) drew a first-round bye and will take on the winner of Feb. 26’s game between North Miami (1-18) and Oak Hill (11-8) at 6 p.m. on March 1. In the regular season, Oak Hill defeated Manchester 68-47 in Converse on Nov. 24, but the Squires did best North Miami 56-42 in Denver on Jan. 4. At Culver High School, the Triton Trojans (14-5) will attempt to win its sixth-straight Class 1A Sectional 51 title and received a first-round bye. Waiting until March 1 at 6:30 p.m. to play, the Trojans will take on the winner of Feb. 26’s game between Culver (12-7) and Argos (5-14). One of Triton’s five losses this season came on Jan. 11 at home against Culver (46-42), but the Trojans handled the Argos Dragons one game later, 50-28, in the first round of the TCU Bi-County Tournament, then again 60-32 back in Argos on Jan. 29. At Hamilton High School for Class 1A Sectional 52, the Lakeland Christian Academy Cougars (6-14) will face Bethany Christian (3-15) at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 27. The sectional will be LCA’s first IHSAA tournament.
