Beverly A. Smith, 69, Warsaw, died at 11:45 a.m. March 20, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Nov. 17, 1939, in LaGrange, to Walter and Lilah Nelson Bartels. On May 22, 1960, in LaGrange, she married Ralph E. Smith, who survives in Warsaw.
She was a Warsaw residence since coming from New Castle in 1970. A homemaker, she retired as a clerk from Hart's Shoeland Store, Warsaw.
"Her relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ was first and foremost in her life. She deeply loved her family, friends and church and invested great time and energy in them. She was passionate about the Create-A-Card ministry at Warsaw Wesleyan Church where she was a member. Her other interests included stamping, scrapbooking and sewing."
Also surviving are two daughters, Cherrill A. (and spouse Todd) Warren, Blaine, Minn., and Jennie E. (and spouse Craig) Peplin, Buford, Ga.; five grandchildren: Roxanne and Raeleen Warren, and Courtney, Chase and Cody Peplin; three brothers: Charles (and spouse Lois) Bartels, Humboldt, Tenn.; David (and spouse May) Bartels, Winter Park, Fla.; William (and spouse Judy) Bartels, Greendale, Wis.; and a sister, Barbara (and spouse Edward) Brewer, Eaton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Warsaw Wesleyan Church, Warsaw, with Pastors Gale Janofski, Warsaw Wesleyan Church, and William Bartels, her brother, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, and one hour prior to services at the church.
