Betty J. Evans, 83, of Miller’s Merry Manor Assisted Living, Warsaw, died at 4:25 p.m. Nov. 2, 2012, in Vibra Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born Dec. 15, 1928, in Warsaw, to Edward A. and Flo Opal Ellis Shirey. On May 6, 1946, she married Ralph J. Evans, who survives in Warsaw. A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, she was a 1946 graduate of Mentone High School. She was a homemaker, a helpmate to her husband on the farm and provided meals to all the men working in the field. Surviving are a son, Larry (and spouse Joyce) Evans; three daughters: Sandra E. (and spouse Marvin) Flanery, Claypool; Sue E. (and spouse Robert) Conley, Warsaw; and Sonja (and spouse Karl) Beck, Rochester; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great- grandson; and a sister, Delores Harman, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, officiated by Pastor Terry Bradford. A private burial will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
