BOURBON – Betty Ilene Baney, 85, of Bourbon, passed away at 5:30 p.m. April 21, 2013, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She had been in failing health.
She was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Fort Wayne, to Ward and Ethel Leora Welch Grim. On Sept. 6, 1952, she married Richard L. Baney, who died March 6, 2012.
She was a resident of Bourbon since 1953 and graduated from South Side High School, Fort Wayne, in 1946. She was a homemaker and worked at Lincoln Life Insurance Co., Fort Wayne, for nine years.
She and her husband began their baking career with Tastie Pastries and she co-owned the famous “Eby Cookies,” which were made in Bourbon and later baked for Amish Acres for more than 19 years.
She enjoyed her family, her friends and spending time with Richard watching sports. As a grandparent she loved her grandchildren and their activities as well. She was a member of Bourbon American Legion Auxiliary and Bourbon First United Methodist Church.
She will be greatly missed by her two children, Cindy (and spouse Douglas) Greaf, Fort Wayne, and Kevin (and spouse Kimberley) Baney, Warsaw; her grandchildren: Erica Subler, Haley Shelby, Ashley Herring and Taylor Baney; and a great-grandchild, Kira Herring. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Richardson and Annabelle Ake, and a brother, Bernard Grim.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, with the Revs. Stormy Scherer-Berry and Mark Cottrill officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.
Calling is from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
