ARGOS - Barbara Sue Lacefield Ryan, 71, of 2026 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne, died at 2:55 p.m. April 5, 2010, in The Waters of Summit City Nursing Home, Fort Wayne, after a lengthy illness.

She was born March 21, 1939, in Harrisburg, Ill., to Claude and Grace Felkins Lacefield. On March 11, 1957, in Rochester, she married Alfred L. Ryan, who died Nov. 9, 2009.

Moving to Fort Wayne from Rochester four years ago, she was a registered nurse, retiring in 2000 from Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was a 1957 graduate of Plymouth High School and earned a degree in nursing from Indiana Hills Community College, Ottumwa, Iowa.

Surviving are three daughters, Bunnie Sullivan, Fort Wayne; Laurie (and spouse Brad) Rice, Papillion, Neb.; and Linda (and wife Michael) Seewer. Mt. Washington, Ky.; three sons, Ronald (and spouse Melody) Ryan, Fayetteville, N.C.; Kevin (and spouse Tammy) Ryan, Lakeland, Fla.; and James III (and spouse Gina) Ryan, Lawton, Okla; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and a sister, Claudia Shuey, Peru. She was preceded in death by a sister.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos, with Chaplin Charles Glenn officiating. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
