Barbara Joanne Freeman Ringer, 70, passed away with her daughter, Kim, holding her, at 4:26 a.m. April 13, 2012, in Perry County Memorial Hospital, Tell City, after a lengthy battle against renal failure.

She was born Dec. 9, 1941, in Warsaw, to Victor Edward and Mary Jane Brown. On Dec. 12, 1965, in Warsaw, she married Douglas Michael “Mike” Ringer, who died Dec. 26, 1999.

She moved to Tell City in 2010 to be closer to her daughter and family. She was a bookkeeper for the Holiday Inn and Ramada Plaza Hotels for 16 years and was co-owner of Ringer Body and Cycle Shop with her husband. She was a past president of Ladie’s Shrine and a life member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. She was a 1959 graduate of Warsaw High School and a member of the high school band in which she played the saxophone. She enjoyed being with her daughter and family as well as traveling to casinos, card games with family and friends, reading, knitting and playing games on her computer.

Surviving are a daughter, Kim Ringer (and spouse Richard) Harley, Lewisport, Ky.; four grandsons: Allen Collins, Indianapolis; Kristopher (and spouse Rachel) Collins, Pleasant Ridge, Ky.; and Nicholas (and spouse Crystal) Harley and Brandon (and spouse Sara) Harley all of Owensboro, Ky.; three great-grandsons: Clay and twins Jacob and Nathan Harley, all of Owensboro; and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Grace Harley, Owensboro. She also was preceded in death by her parent and a sister, Patsy Freeman Weirick.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
