MUNCIE — Barbara H. Cross, 73, Leesburg, passed away Saturday morning, July 28, 2018, at IU Health Bloomington.

She was born April 14, 1945, in Bryant, the daughter of John A. and Emma Jean Judy Orr and graduated from Bryant High School in 1963. She also graduated from Ambers Beauty School and was an instructor there for many years.

Barbara was a founding member of Zotos, a permanent wave company in the 1980s; was the owner of the Hair Racquet at the Racquet Ball Club in Muncie; and invested in Anasazi, a hair care product company in the 1990s. She was a longtime member of Delaware Country Club and Tippecanoe Country Club, Muncie Racquetball Club, High Street United Methodist Church, North Webster United Methodist Church and the Kiwanis of North Webster.

She loved to play golf, Lake Tippecanoe and waterskiing, and was a fan of IU basketball, Pacers and the Colts.

Barbara was crowned Ms. Jay County in 1963.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Capps (husband Richard), Indianapolis; two stepsons, P. Gregory Cross (wife Barbara), Muncie, and Jeffrey Cross (wife Carol) of Burgaw, N.C.; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Lynn Beer (husband David), Fort Wayne; nephew, Michael Beer (wife Tracy), Indianapolis, and their children, Sam and Kara; and niece Karen Kruger (husband Scott), Houston, Texas, and their children, Kevin and Karsen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Perry W. Cross, on May 7, 1995.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, Muncie, with Pastor Barry Humble officiating.

Burial will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, at Mock Cemetery, North Webster, with Dr. Byron Kaiser officiating.  

Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, Muncie, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday.
