AWL Board

What is happening to the Animal Welfare League?

I just found out that recently the AWL board held a meeting in which they dismissed two board members. Now these two board members, namely Suzanne Abel and Tina Phipps, are both strong animal advocates, as anyone who knows them can surely verify. I fear the reason they were dismissed from the board was because they were the only two board members who would actually listen to the concerns being voiced by members and volunteers of the Animal Welfare League. Instead of the board addressing these concerns they decided to get rid of the only two board members who cared.

How would you feel if your president of the committee you are on says to you, when you are about to attend the commissioners meeting regarding Jerry Clase, "Please be advised that you will be representing yourself and not the AWL. You can express your opinions as a private citizen"? How much faith in Suzanne does this show? I know that both Suzanne and Tina were humiliated at this ousting.

The Animal Welfare League is losing the wrong people here. Tina and Suzanne never strayed from their commitment to the AWL. I just think it is a shame this was allowed to happen.

If you are currently a member of the Animal Welfare League I urge you to ask why these board members were dismissed. Aren't the members of the board supposed to represent the interests of its members? And when you are asking about the dismissal of these two board members also ask why the AWL Board meetings are no longer open to the public. Up until this last year all the board meetings were open meetings. Now for some reason we are being told they do not have to hold open meetings. Ask yourselves what is happening to the Animal Welfare League?
