Area Swimmers End Season At State Meet In IndyINDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI held the annual girls swimming state championship on Saturday and the preliminaries on Friday at the famous Indiana University Natatorium. Manchester and Warsaw had swimmers in the event, but were unable to race in the finals.
The Lady Squires standout freshman Halle Briner competed in two events at the state meet. She finished 29th in the 200-yard freestyle, swimming a 1:58.45. In the 500-yard freestyle, Briner hit the wall in 5:25.84, finishing 30th to end her season.
Warsaw had a swimmer in one individual event and swimmers in two relay events at the meet. Junior Delaney Wihebrink ended 24th in the 100-yard breaststroke, with a time of 1:06.91.
The 200-yard freestyle relay of senior Laurel Moeller, junior Olivia Herman, sophomore Taylor Gunter and Wihebrink tallied a 27th-place mark in the preliminiaries, swimming a time of 1:41.81.
The Lady Tigers’ 200-yard medley relay faced a disqualification during their race.
Carmel finished first with a team score of 363 and Northridge earned second (215).
Warsaw finished the season 8-3, won the Warsaw Sectional and third in the Northern Lakes Conference.
