The Lake City Skiers Water ski show team recently qualified to move into the division 1 ranking of the best show ski teams in the nation. Based in Warsaw, where they perform 30 home shows every summer on Sunday and Tuesday evenings, the team took third place in a five-state regional competition in Rockford, Ill earlier this month, moving the team to the nation’s top division.

The group is Indiana’s only competitive show ski team. The team returns to Rockford Aug. 11 -13 to represent Indiana and will be among 14 teams in the nation competing for the top spot. The competition will be webcast; a link will be posted on the teams Facebook page as soon as it is available.

Sweet Sassy Classic Aug. 26

The Sweet Sassy Golf Classic, in honor of the late Scott Bibler, will be held at Rozella Ford Aug. 26.

Bibler spent 25 years of his life as a football coach and educator at Tippecanoe Valley. He was a talented athlete in his youth, playing football for the Vikings until he graduated in 1982. He continued athletics at Taylor University where he played football and baseball.

The Scott “Bibs” Bibler Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in Scott’s memory. The scholarship will help students pursuing a career in education, helping underprivileged children to participate in educational, cultural and musical activities or help them access counseling services.

The cost is $280 per four-person team until Aug. 1, when it goes to $300 per team. Hole sponsorships are available, and a celebratory dinner will be held at El Faro after the tournament.
