Amelia E. Paton, 90, of 3 EMS T 33 Lane, Leesburg, died at 10:25 a.m. June 23, 2007, in Mason Health And Rehab, Warsaw.
She was born July 30, 1916, in Indianapolis, to Martin and Julia Cseplak Bretz. On June 12, 1935, in Indianapolis, she married George R. Paton, who died July 13, 1992.
Living at Tippecanoe Lake since 1935, she developed and founded Patona Bay Resort and Marina, and Patron Real Estate and Insurance. She was a member of Leesburg United Methodist Church, Leesburg. She was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star 83, and a charter member of Lake Tippecanoe Property Owners Association, where she was the first honoree for distinguished Tippecanoe Lake residents in 1994. She played league tennis for Warsaw Racquet Club and Bonita Beach Tennis Club. She was a member of Leesburg Literary Club, enjoyed gardening and was an avid artist.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Dave (Marilyn Paton) Kuhn, Indianapolis; two sons, George M. (and wife Judy) Paton and Robert W. (and wife Judy) Paton, both of Tippecanoe Lake, Leesburg; three grandchildren, Mrs. Mark (Deb Paton) Showley and Robert J. (and wife Michelle) Paton, both of Warsaw, and Kristine Paton, Tippecanoe Lake, Leesburg; and three great-grandchildren, Kendra, Kyle and Eliza Paton. She was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter, Sheri Paton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Michael Heath officiating. Burial will be in Leesburg Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m.
