INDIANAPOLIS – Alison Burns Kissling, 64, of Indianapolis, passed away April 1, 2011, of ovarian cancer. 
She was born Sept. 19, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Dr. N. Keith  and Margaret Case Burns. She was married to John R. Kissling Jr. for 41 years. He survives.
Prior to teaching at the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, she taught in Lawrence Township, stayed home and raised her two sons and worked in the family insurance agency. She graduated from Stephens College, A.A.; Butler University, earning a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in special education; and Illinois State University, with a vision certification.
She was a member of Zionsville Presbyterian Church and enjoyed raising orchids. 
Also surviving are a son, John Robert “Robby” III (and spouse Melissa) Kissling, and James R. (and spouse Karyn) Kissling; four grandchildren, Jacob, Molly, Ethan and Sophia; two sisters, Elaine Daniels and Phyllis Adams; and her stepmother, Mary Jo Bridgford. 
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Zionsville Presbyterian Church, 116th Street and Michigan Road. Burial will be in the Kissling family site at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel, Indianapolis, and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
