Editor, Times-Union: In response to the article Wednesday, April 11, 2011, concerning airport expansion of the east/west runway 500 feet in each direction using taxpayer money: Statement by Ken Ross of NGC to the Warsaw Board of Aviation Commissioners that the FAA is fully funded for the year and the deadline for the airport to take grant money is May 1.
My question: Where is this money coming from? The United States is over $14 trillion in debt. This is just more debt and it appears Warsaw Aviation Board will gladly hold out their hands.
As a U.S. citizen and taxpayer, I resent the arrogance of people claiming that the money is there and needs to be spent or will be taken back! All for a runway extension that is not needed with money that really doesn’t exist and borrowed by our federal government at the taxpayers expense.
How about the city of Warsaw and the Warsaw BD of Aviation Commissioners take the high road and declare they will not feed at the trough of borrowed money. Oh, that’s right – never happen!
