Airport

Editor, Times-Union:

So the truth comes out: The FAA will pay 98 percent of the cost if we act now, so the people should just shut up and be thankful to the city and Warsaw airport for saving us regular people so much money.

We should just bow down and pay the balance so that our superiors in the corporate world are not inconvenienced one or two times a year. It doesn't make a difference how many of us regular people are inconvenienced or are injured or even die to get emergency care to our homes, while trying to go around the airport onto Ind. 15 as long as our superior people do not have to be chauffeured all the way from South

Bend or Fort Wayne one or two times a year.

Mr. Miller states that one plane has already slid off the runway. How many years has this runway been used? How many cars have been hit going onto Ind. 15 from CR 300N and CR 250N. I'll bet it's been a lot more than one. Of course, Mr. Miller is all for it. He is a multi-millionaire who will not be inconvenienced at all. He can afford and extra $1,000 or so per year in fuel to have his people drive him around the airport to get to his plane. Of course, us regular people will forget all about this two months after it is done because we aren't as smart as he is and our attention span is not that long.

Besides, what can we do about it? Another time the wealthy can do anything they want, twist the city of Warsaw puppets in city hall to bend over and do whatever the Warsaw Royalty wants. As for safety, how much more valuable is a corporate executive's life or safety than us regular people and we certainly would not want to disappoint Mr. Miller by having our own thoughts and not his.

Why, if Mr. Miller wants to bring in large aircraft to Warsaw, why doesn't Mr. Miller and his cohorts buy some land west of Warsaw and put in a new large airport for his convenience and safety? After all, it's their important people who are going to be using it, not me and anybody I know. (These are corporate jets, not commercial flights.) Mr. Miller should realize that us regular people are the same people who helped him make all of his money. Of course, he probably forgot that about two months after he made it.

Thanks for clearing up some of the issues.

P.S. REMC is burying the lines farther underground. Is this regular maintenance?
