Editor, Times-Union: As I write this letter, I know that I have dear friends that are really not going to like what I have to say. I want to give my two cents on the current situation we are in and the state of our nation. I have followed our congress as closely as I could since 2000, I have tried my hardest to be as impartial as possible.
In my adult life I believe the truth will set you free. When information came my way that proved my theory wrong, I changed my outlook so as to go forward with as up-to-date belief system as humanly possible. To me the only way to be healthy in mind and spirit is to put aside your loyalties to misinformation and bigotries and always look for the truth in every situation. When I have done that I have found I grow and become the person God put me on this earth to be.
With all that said, I have listened and researched the things that have gone on since Bush first took office and our current president. I listen to their speeches and I look at their actions and then I make my decision as to where I think we are going and have gone. I was very reluctant to see us go fight in the Middle East. I have some knowledge that maybe others don’t.
For three years in Los Angeles, Calif., I dated a girl that lived in Iran and “It is pronounced E-RAN.” Why is that important? because it is true! She lived there at the beginning of the revolution when our embassy was taken over. She gave me a good idea as to the way things are there. It is beyond our understanding how things work and how religion controls the hearts and minds of their leaders. We are never going to change them with bombs and might. As a matter of fact, we are never ever going to change them. It was a mistake that we went there and we need to come home now and never go back.
Our current president was given the Nobel Peace Prize because he spouted peace when he was running for the office. He not only has not brought our people home he has bombed another country that did not attack us and is now threatening Iran. The only reason we left Iraq is because we could not make a deal protecting our men and women from prosecution by their courts. We just sent them to Afghanistan and so war goes on and our young die. The reason Obama is now threatening Iran is to get the Jewish vote. For three years he has not stood up for our greatest Ali over there, our God’s Holy land. Now we are supposed to believe he loves them and will stand by them.
I have seen enough information on the health care bill to know that it was rushed through the houses just to get passed. There are a few parts like caps on insurance pay outs that may be good but also have to be paid for by someone. The bailouts of the auto industry were not right, we have bankruptcy courts for that very purpose, when companies have financial trouble they go through bankruptcy.
The one thing Obama has stuck to is, the government should run our lives, every part. Even our states should bow down to them, that is not the way our forefathers set it up.
So I know now without a doubt Obama is not good for our nation, our freedom or our health care. He has got to go. I am voting for Mitt. He knows we need to address health care, as a matter of fact he is way ahead of the feds in that area. He has the background is business. Oh yeah, he’s been successful. Does anyone want a guy or gal that never did anything? Oh, I forgot that is what we have now.
