A 5-year-old girl was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in?Fort Wayne Thursday night after being hit by a car.
Riley Wagner, Columbia Street, Warsaw, was riding her bike when she was hit by a car at the intersection of North Columbia and West Pike streets, Warsaw, according to a report from the Warsaw Police Department.
Wagner landed in the road near a parked vehicle.?She was not wearing a helmet.
At about 8:31 p.m. Sydney Roy, 66, Lake Street, Warsaw, was driving north on Columbia Street when her vehicle struck Wagner.
Roy told police she saw movement out of the corner of her eye, and the next thing she saw was Wagner flying though the air, the report said.
Roy attempted to call 911, but was panicked and distraught, according to the police report. Roy told police neighbors told her it wasn’t her fault because they had problems in the past with the girl not looking before she crosses the street.
A breathalyzer test given at the scene to Roy showed no signs of alcohol. Roy told police she was not on drugs or using her phone at the time of the accident.
The report said Wagner had substantial bruising to her face.
