3 Families Without A Home After Fire Causes Over $500K In Damages To Apartments

Three Warsaw families were left without a home after an apartment fire Sunday night in Warsaw.
Several calls reporting a fire came in at about 10:10 p.m. from the Canterbury Apartment complex on Sophie Lane on the city’s north side.
Firefighters arrived on the scene and attacked the fire from the exterior deck, while other crews attacked the fire from inside.
The fire appeared to have started in the common deck area on the second floor and progressed into the attic and then into apartments below.
Apartments below sustained water and smoke damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but is believed to be accidental according to the release.
The families of Julie Moore,?Angela Parks and Anthony Lozano were displaced by the fire. No injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross was on scene to help the tenants with personal needs and temporary housing, according to a press release for the Warsaw-Wayne fire territory.
Damage is estimated at more than $520,000 to the structure and $55,000 in personal belongings. The property is owned by?Canterbury House Apartments,  which has its main office in Indianapolis.
Winona Lake Fire Department, Luthern ?EMS, Warsaw Police Department, Kosciusko County ?Sheriff’’s Department also responded to the scene.
