The man accused of killing a 2–year-old girl allegedly told police he beat her to death with his hands, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Kosciusko?County Prosecutor’s Office. Police arrested Christopher Grimmett, 29, Friday on one count of murder, after he allegedly confessed to killing his girlfriend’s daughter, Adalin?Stamper, 2, while he babysat her. Police found the body of Stamper in the back yard of Grimmett’s brother’s house at 1835 Sue Ave., Warsaw. Grimmett would regularly go to his brother’s house to do laundry, said Chad Hill, public information officer for the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. Johnny Grimmett, Christopher’s brother, is not believed to be involved in the murder, Hill said. Law enforcement traced the toddler to Sue Avenue after responding to a missing child report at 10:30 p.m Thursday near Chapman Lake. Officers met with Christopher Grimmett, who told them he had left the toddler with her maternal grandmother. Officers determined this was false by contacting the taxi driver that took Grimmett home. The driver told police he remembered seeing blood on Grimmett’s pants, the affidavit said. Once inside, officers found a substantial amount of blood in the home, the affidavit states. Investigators found a small area outside where the child had been buried and wrapped in trash bags. Grimmett is being held in the Kosciusko?County Jail with no bond. He is expected to make his initial appearance in court Thursday.
