Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies and emergency personnel responded to the three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon at the intersection of Ind. 15 and CR 400S, according to news release from KCSD.

Officers arrived and located the first vehicle, a 1997 Ford Explorer, that was driven by Evelyn Powers, 39, Pierceton. Powers was suffering from head and hand injuries and was transported to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, in serious condition.

The second vehicle involved in the crash, a 2006 Ford Escape, was driven by Jason Culp, 32, Peru, Ind. He refused treatment at the scene.

Patty Miller, 28, Winona Lake, was the driver of the third vehicle, a 2007 Hyundai. She was extricated from her vehicle and transported to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, in serious condition with hip injuries.

The preliminary investigation by deputies determined that Powers had been southbound on Ind. 15 and lost control of her vehicle. Powers’ vehicle struck the northbound Culp vehicle, and continued forward, striking the Miller vehicle that was also northbound on Ind. 15, the news release states. The Powers vehicle continued off the roadway, striking a fence and guidewire attached to a utility pole.

KCSD was assisted at the scene by Lutheran Kosciusko EMS and Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Territory.
