Last Wednesday evening, Dr. Rob Haworth and members of the Warsaw Community Schools Information Technology staff shared their vision of the 1 to 1 Laptop Initiative during a meeting held in the Performing Arts Center.
During the meeting, the presenters clearly stretched the minds of those in attendance regarding the future of education. As they presented their Committed to Excellence - Equipped to Achieve ideas, I am so glad I live in a community where we value education and realize its importance to the youth of our community. As speakers from outside our community extolled our school corporation's goals of equipping students to meet the 21st century skills and the need to meet the needs of the diverse student population, I understood the economic impact this program would have for our community and our youth.
As more information is shared with the community, please take a moment to reflect on the changes each of us has experienced since we were students in school. As evidenced by the recent awarding of statewide recognition for having 4-star schools and meeting the annual progress goals, our school board deserves much praise for endorsing change in the methods used to engage our youth in learning. My hats off to all the employees of our school corporation in their dedicated daily commitment to the youth of our community. You are heroes in my eyes. Keep up the good work.
