The Homestead Spartans showed the Warsaw Tigers girls’ basketball fans why they are the state’s number one team in Class 4A in their 59-46 win over Warsaw in the Tiger Den Tuesday night.

Grace’s women’s basketball team breezed past Miami-Hamilton on Monday by the score of 75-46. The Lady Lancers (13-7) picked up their third straight victory thanks to balanced offensive production. Eleven of the 12 players that saw the court for Grace scored a point, led by 16 points from Kenzie McMahon.

The league-leading Hanover College Panthers used an early offensive barrage en route to a 76-58 victory over the Manchester University Spartans in men’s basketball action on Saturday.

Grace College’s women’s basketball team picked up a convincing 76-43 win over Huntington on Saturday afternoon. Grace shot a blistering 62 percent from beyond the arc which propelled them to an easy win.

Warsaw built a plush cushion with “as good a half as we’ve played at both ends all year,” then needed every single fiber stuffed into that cushion during the second half while hanging on for a 48-47 Northern Lakes Conference boys high school basketball win over Goshen on Friday night at the Tiger Den.

The Manchester University indoor track & field teams kicked off their seasons on Friday night. The Spartans competed in the three-team Friday Night Spikes Meet #1 hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Perennial track & field power Washington University (Mo.) was the third team competing in Friday's meet.

Manchester Squires second-year head coach Eli Henson realizes one of the perils of starting two freshmen and a sophomore is consistency. His Squires outscored their hosts, the Wabash Apaches,  32-20 in the second half, but ball security miscues plagued Manchester in the first half putting them in a hole they couldn’t climb out of in their 58-53 loss in Three Rivers Conference (TRC) boys’ basketball action Friday night.

Spectators walking into the gym at Tippecanoe Valley High School Friday night would be able to tell very quickly that this was no ordinary game.

The Manchester University men’s basketball team delivered another scrappy performance inside of Stauffer-Wolfe Arena on Wednesday night. The Black & Gold overcame an 11-point deficit in the 2nd half and held on late for a gritty 73-69 victory over the Fightin’ Engineers of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Grace’s men’s basketball team has earned its second consecutive top-10 ranking in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll. The Lancers landed No. 9 in the latest poll after accumulating a 17-2 record to start the season. Grace has been battle tested having played five games against ranked opponents this season.

Warsaw Tigers girls head basketball coach Lenny Krebs was proud of the complete team effort his squad put forth in a convincing 53-15 win over Mishawaka in the Tiger Den Wednesday night. He’s also aware of the trappings of lopsided wins like the one his squad picked up to move to 13-5 overall, standing atop the Northern Lakes Conference (NLC) at 5-0.

Grace’s women’s basketball team picked up a 52-44 win over Goshen on Wednesday night.

With Warsaw’s junior scoring ace out of the game and Penn’s junior scoring ace at the top of his game, the Kingsmen jumped in front early early and maintained double-digit spreads most of the way while downing the Tigers 71-59 in boys high school basketball Tuesday night at the Palace.

It wasn’t the prettiest game for Chris Kindig and the Tippecanoe Lady Vikings, but after a slow offensive start in the first quarter, the team was able to do just enough to escape “The Pit” at NorthWood high school with a 46-33 nonconference victory over the Lady Panthers. Tippy Valley improves its record to 11-6 this season, and has won eight of its last nine games.

Manchester University sophomore forward Brandon Christlieb has been tabbed as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Grace head coach Michael Moffitt is set to take the reins of the Lancer track and field program heading into the 2022 season. The Lancers are coming off a banner year after both the men’s and women’s teams reached new heights. Grace’s men won the NCCAA outdoor national championship in 2021, while the women claimed second.

The short-handed Manchester University men's basketball team displayed an immense amount of grit and toughness in an 83-82 victory over Mt. St. Joseph University inside of Stauffer-Wolfe Arena on Saturday January 8. Playing only six players, Manchester rallied from a double-digit deficit in the second half against the Lions – earning a third consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win in the process.

Grace’s men’s basketball team had little trouble with Taylor on Saturday, beating the Trojans 79-64 on Saturday. The No. 7 Lancers (16-2, 5-1 Crossroads League) shot 55 percent as a team from the floor while holding Taylor to 43 percent.

The way he was rattling off zone defensive alignments after his Warsaw Tigers uncorked a defensive gem Saturday night to take control of the Northern Lakes Conference girls basketball race with a rugged 36-28 home win over Northridge, coach Lenny Krebs sounded like he was pondering enticing lottery options.

There’s a plethora more to see in junior guard Jaxson Gould than just the scoring, and as far as Warsaw coach Matt Moore’s concerned, there’s a college player to see in senior guard Judah Simfukwe.

The Manchester University men's basketball squad won its second consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference game on Wednesday night after outlasting rival Anderson on the road 87-84.

Grace’s women’s basketball lost a first-half lead, falling 65-59 to No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday. Maddie Ryman was almost unstoppable for Grace, pouring in 28 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals for the Lady Lancers (10-6, 1-4 Crossroads League).

The dual wrestling meet between the Warsaw Tigers and the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings opened at the 106-pound weight class, and the Tigers clinched the meet win with Jaxson Walters’ pin over Valley’s Eric Burke in the 170-lb weight class. The Vikings, trailing 41-16 with four weight classes remaining, won each of those matches by pin before falling short to the Tigers 41-40 Wednesday night.

Grace’s men’s basketball team tasted defeat for the first time in Crossroads League play this season. The No. 7 Lancers (15-2, 4-1 CL) fell 77-63 to No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan (14-3, 5-0 CL) on Tuesday in front of a packed crowd at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.

Grace’s women’s basketball team rolled to a 77-54 win over Webber International in the Keiser New Year’s Classic on Thursday.
