In a game in which points were scarce, the defense for Grace’s women’s basketball team impressed during a 51-46 win over Goshen.

Grace’s men’s basketball racked up its 20th win of the regular season on Wednesday, blowing by Goshen 79-59. The Lancers (20-7, 9-6 Crossroads League) poured in 46 points in the paint, flexing its interior muscles against the Maple Leafs (7-20, 3-12 CL).

The Trinity Greenlawn Titans visited the Trojan Trench Tuesday night boasting a 2-3 zone defense yielding only 25 points per contest among previous opponents, but the Triton Trojans were zone breakers in the first half, scoring 23 points in the books by halftime from hitting 5 of 10 zone-breaking first half 3-point shots on their way to a 33-27 victory over Trinity.

Warsaw hadn’t played a boys basketball game inside The Cave in 33 years, but that sure didn’t make the Tigers forget how to shoot at Indiana’s oldest high school gym still in regular use.

Grace College and Warsaw Community High School are partnering to host a pair of professional basketball games in late February. The Basketball League (TBL) is a growing minor league basketball league, which began in 2018. The Indiana All-Americans of the TBL will take on the Sudbury Five of Canada’s National Basketball League. The teams will face off at Grace’s Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m.

The Triton High School Athletic Department is proud to announce the next class to be inducted into the Triton Athletic Hall of Fame. The class of 2022 will be the eleventh class inducted.

Manchester University junior distance runner Enrique Salazar has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Monday February 7.

A pair of Grace College track and field runners were named the NCCAA Track Athletes of the Week on Monday. Logan Rufenacht and Heather Plastow swept the NCCAA’s track athletes of the week, capping off a strong weekend for the Lancers at the IWU Midwest Classic.

The Manchester University indoor track & field teams were back in action on Saturday February 5 at the Anderson Invite. Another school record was broken and numerous top 10 and person-bests were established. Both sides competed well in a highly competitive meet. The Manchester women placed second out of 10 teams with 78 points. The men placed third out of 11 squads with 56 points.

22 of 34 area wrestlers who battled in the Penn Regional Saturday will advance to the East Chicago Semistate this coming weekend. The Wawasee Warriors led the way among area teams with a third-place team finish (106.5 points) and 8 semistate qualifiers. Backyard rivals Penn (214.5 points), and 2022 Northern Lakes Conference (NLC) champion Mishawaka (176.5 points) finished first and second respectively.

A deathly quiet Warsaw locker room spoke volumes about how much these Tigers cared, and about how much they had invested. And just in case you’re not sure, coach Lenny Krebs spoke it, too.

Grace’s baseball team nabbed two more wins to conclude its opening weekend of the season. The Lancers swept Trinity International on Saturday, winning 5-1 and 17-2.

Culver Community girls’ basketball team, the Class 1A Sectional 50 host, used the “second season” to avenge a 71-34 regular season loss Jan 14 by upsetting the defending sectional champions, the Triton Trojans, 58-46 Saturday night.

When it comes to high school basketball, especially come playoff time, the phrase “anything can happen” will be said until the end of time. Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball was on the wrong end of an upset Saturday night in the IHSAA 3A sectional 20 championship, falling 56-51 to a now 6-17 West Noble squad. The Lady Vikings end their season with a 17-8 record and a Three Rivers Conference championship.

The Tippecanoe Valley Vikings girls’ basketball squad trailed 36-22 with 56 seconds left in the third quarter before scoring five points to end the period, then finishing what resulted in a 19-0 run to overtake the Wawasee Warriors 42-41 in Class 3A Sectional 20 action at Northwood’s Panther Pit Friday night.

The 2022 campaign officially kicked off for Grace’s baseball team on Friday.

With a chance to make history and win the first state title in the history of the program, the Warsaw bowling team has already reached tremendous heights this season. The Tigers are one of the final 12 teams remaining in the state and will bowl for a chance to be crowned champions of Indiana Saturday at Pro Bowl West in Fort Wayne.

Grace College’s baseball is set to get the 2022 season underway. In his fourth season leading the Lancers baseball program, Grace head coach Ryan Roth is excited about this squad’s potential.

Marcus Moore has decided to step away from his position as the head coach of Grace’s women’s tennis team. Moore will continue in his role at Grace as the Athletics Admissions Recruiting Coordinator in addition to his teaching responsibilities in Grace’s sport management program.

A quartet of Wawasee Warriors and a Warsaw Tiger were named to the All-Northern Lakes Conference wrestling team Tuesday.

Grace’s men’s basketball team missed on a chance to move up the Crossroads League standings on Tuesday.

Grace’s women’s basketball team was five seconds away from securing a road win at St. Francis on Tuesday night. Unfortunately for Grace, the Cougars made a dramatic late 3-pointer to secure a 71-70 victory over the Lady Lancers.

Grace College student-athletes Kaylee Houghton, Olia Greathouse and Halley Krochta were recently named to the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) Ohio Conference All-Star Team. Krochta and Houghton traveled to Houston, Texas, on Jan. 21 to be honored for their high level of play in the league and to participate in the all-star tournament.

Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball fended off an upset bid and shot at revenge by the NorthWood Panthers Tuesday night, defeating the host team of ISHAA 3A Sectional 20 33-30 in the first round.
