The Warsaw Tigers boys’ track and field team has, in recent years, been a program whose strengths were mostly among middle- and long-distance running events. The Tigers added three more ingredients – field event depth, sprints, and hurdles - to capture the team title in Saturday’s Chesterton Relays.

The Manchester University baseball team was edged in a hard-fought doubleheader against Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference leader Franklin College on Saturday.

The Wawasee Warriors softball team loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning trailing 7-4 with one out, but a called strikeout and a ground-out to the pitcher punctuated a problem the Warriors had against the Manchester Squires all evening in their 7-4 loss.

Parkview Warsaw YMCA held its sixth annual Good Friday Breakfast at Christ’s Covenant Church Friday morning, with the event being capped off by the keynote speaker, former major league pitcher Dave Dravecky.

Special Olympic athletes from Kosciusko County competed at the annual spring sports event held at Tippy Valley High School on Saturday, April 9, 2022.  The athletes participated on a very cold day in Bocce and Track and Field.

It was a back and forth game on a windy day at Tiger Field Thursday, as the Warsaw Tigers baseball team edged the Vikings from Huntington North 11-10 in eight innings in their first home game of the 2022 season.

Grace’s softball team earned a crucial split at home against Taylor on Tuesday.

The Warsaw Tigers softball team jumped out to 2-0 lead in the opening inning of their opening game Tuesday night at the Tiger Softball Complex. Their guests, however, the East Noble Knights, had three big innings taming the Tigers enroute to a 14-9 non-conference win.

The Grace women’s golf team competed in the Sagamore Shootout, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan on Monday.

Basketball athletes from Kosciusko County Special Olympics participated in the Indiana State basketball tournament held at the Pacers Athletic Center in Westfield, Indiana on Saturday.

A light morning snow and temperatures that failed to reach 40 degrees were not enough to keep the Grace track and field team from posting some quality performances at the Manchester Invitational. Despite the cold and the choice to hold several athletes out of the competition, the Lancers’ women placed second overall in the meet, while the men came in third.

The Manchester University outdoor track & field teams battled the elements on Saturday afternoon as the Black & Gold hosted the Manchester Invitational at Spartan Stadium on April 9.

Grace’s women’s golf team claimed its second tournament title of the spring at the Eagle Glen Invitational. The Lady Lancers defeated four other teams at Eagle Glen Golf Club with six players finishing in the top 10.

With no physical remainder of the Warsaw Speedway still standing, memories are all that remain of a track that in its heyday would bring an excess of 3,000 visitors a week to the community.

Grace’s baseball team capped off its series with Indiana Wesleyan with a victory.

For the third time this year and for the first time this outdoor season, Manchester University junior Enrique Salazar has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

The Grace Shooting Sports Club (GSSC) at Grace College recently competed at the national level in San Antonio, Texas, for the first time in team history.

Evan Etchison impressed in defeat for Grace’s baseball team. The sophomore hurler struck out 16 batters during the Lancers’ second game against Bethel on Saturday. He set the program record for most strikeouts in a game, doing so in 5.2 shutout innings of work. Of the 17 outs that Etchison collected from the mound, 16 came via strikeout.

The Manchester University softball squad swept the visiting Olivet College Comets in a non-conference doubleheader at the MU Softball Field on Thursday.

Grace’s softball team missed on its chance to take down the Crossroads League leaders Mt. Vernon Nazarene on Wednesday. The Lady Lancers (8-13, 5-5 CL) lost a 12-inning marathon in the opener by the score of 5-4. The Cougars (18-2, 8-0 CL) then completed the sweep with a 9-3 win to conclude the doubleheader.

Whitko freshman Gwen Howard continued a stellar start to her high school career this past weekend, finishing fifth in the shot put competition at the Hoosier State Relays Saturday.

The Manchester University softball team was swept by the Calvin University Knights in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday. The Black & Gold fell by final scores of 7-2 and 22-3.

Grace’s baseball team registered a split with Indiana Wesleyan on Tuesday at Miller Athletic Complex. The Lancers and Wildcats played a pair of tightly contested games; IWU won the opener 9-7, but Grace had the final say by ending the day with a 5-3 victory.
