The future of Tiger football, in the form of a halftime parade Friday night among the three levels of the Young Tiger football organization’s 8-, 10-, and 12-year-old groups, was apropos for Warsaw’s Northern Lakes Conference opening 70-0 win over the Plymouth Rockies at Fisher Field.

It wasn’t the prettiest game, but the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings won’t be complaining about much after stomping on Three Rivers Conference foe Peru 41-22 in the team’s conference opener. The Vikings are still undefeated this season at 3-0, and open up TRC play at 1-0.

It was a hard-fought and physical Three Rivers Conference boys soccer matchup between Manchester and Tippecanoe Valley Tuesday, with the Squires going ahead early and staying there for a 6-0 victory. Manchester is now 5-1 this season, still undefeated at 3-0 in the TRC. The Vikings fall to 3-2, 0-2 in the Three Rivers.

Warsaw freshman forward Lola Pepper scored on a penalty kick in the 71st minute to tie the IHSAA Class 2A seventh-ranked Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Saints 1-1 in a Saturday morning girls’ soccer match at the Tiger Soccer Complex. The deadlock moves the Tigers’ record to 3-2-1 with two previous losses coming from teams in IHSAA 3A’s top 10 rankings.

Roberto Sanchez’s goal may have been a bit of the unorthodox kind, but it was also the only goal of any kind, as Class 3A No. 16-ranked Warsaw knocked off 2A No. 7 host Marian 1-0 in a feisty showdown of boys high school soccer unbeatens Saturday afternoon at Abro Stadium.

The past three seasons the Warsaw Tigers defense would bend… and break putting the onus on the offense to rack points and rushing yards at record setting levels to earn wins. Friday night the Tigers bent and broke a little with their ball security before the end of the first half and in the third quarter, and defense favorably reversed the momentum enroute to a 24-7 victory over the Chesterton Trojans at Fisher Field.

A week after both teams won their opening games of the season by seven touchdowns or more, Triton and LaVille looked to face off in a much more highly contested game to open up Hoosier North Athletic Conference play. It remained that way for a half before the Lancers opened it up with a four-touchdown third quarter for a 56-14 victory. LaVille improves to 2-0 this fall, while Triton falls to 1-1, and 0-1 in the HNAC.
