Grace’s men’s basketball team used a strong second half to topple Spring Arbor, winning 96-84 on Saturday.

It took five tries for last year’s Wawasee girls basketball team to win its first Northern Lakes Conference game of the season. The Warriors began this year’s conference campaign on a high note by defeating Concord 48-36 to improve to 4-2 and start NLC play at 1-0.

Warsaw junior Josefina Rastrelli earned a tremendous honor this week, being named first team all-state in the 4A division Thursday by the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches.

The historic season for Grace’s men’s soccer team came to an end via a 3-1 loss to Lindsey Wilsion in the first round of the NAIA tournament.

Looking to bounce back after the team’s first loss of the season to South Central last Friday, the Triton Trojans used great defense and fantastic games from junior center Addyson Viers and senior guard Kinsey Atkins to pull away from the Plymouth Lady Pilgrims early and stay on top for a 51-36 victory at the Trojan Trench Thursday night. Triton is now 4-1 this winter.

Grace’s men’s basketball team rocketed up the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, released on Wednesday. The Lancers jumped to No. 3 in Wednesday’s poll after a fast 6-0 start to the season.

Andrew Hawblitzel, of Warsaw’s own Lake City Skiers, has accepted an offer to perform in the Water Ski shows at LegoLand in Winter Haven Florida. 

Logan Rufenacht of Grace men’s cross country earned one of the NCCAA’s top honors.

It was a record setting performance for the Warsaw Tigers girls basketball team Saturday night, as the team defeated LaPorte 69-7 at the Tiger Den.

Grace’s men’s basketball team extended its winning streak to five straight to begin the season.

The Kosciusko County YMCA has announced its updated program schedule and catalog to further its mission of serving the health and wellness of children and families in the community.

Warsaw girls basketball head coach Lenny Krebs was clear when he said Wednesday’s practice was “by far” the worst the team had put together this season. After the Tigers 72-36 victory over Tippecanoe Valley at the Tiger Den Thursday night, Krebs was a little less displeased about it.

Points were at a premium in Tippecanoe Valley’s 42-33 victory over Culver Academies Tuesday night. Both teams had just 20 points at halftime as defense was the name of the game. In the end, the aggressiveness of the Lady Vikings would pay off, as the home team ended the night with 18 points in the fourth quarter to come out on top.

The Indiana Soccer Coaches Association all-state teams were announced Monday, honoring a handful of local athletes.

It’s not every day a retired local mechanic and former International Harvester employee gets a book written about them, but it’s also not everyday you have someone so successful for so many years doing something they love.  Paul Hazen, from Columbia City, completed his 65th year in sprint car racing just a few weeks ago with his accomplishments rivaling those of legends in the sport. 

Grace’s men’s soccer team picked up a 1-0 win in a Crossroads League quarterfinal matchup with Mt. Vernon on Saturday night. The win moves Grace onto the semifinals where they will host Spring Arbor on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Spring Arbor advanced via an upset win over Indiana Wesleyan.

An unidentified, well-mannered gentleman donning a Carroll hat whose grandson played for the Carroll Chargers came up to Warsaw head football coach Bart Curtis during postgame interviews, shook his hand, and said, “You had one hell of a game plan, but it’s too bad (Warsaw) couldn’t hang onto the football.”

Triton head coach Kennedy Krull did not mince words after her team’s Friday evening contest against the Manchester Lady Squires, despite the Trojans coming out on top with a 47-37 victory.

The Warsaw Tiger cheerleading team has continued the school’s many successes during the fall sports season by qualifying for the Indiana Cheer Championship and going into the competition with the No. 4 ranking in the entire state. The competition will be held Saturday morning at New Castle High School.

A chance to hoist a sectional championship trophy for the second time in program history. That’s what Warsaw (8-2) will have when the Tigers travel to Fort Wayne to play Carroll (10-0) Friday, Nov. 4 in the IHSAA Class 6A Sectional 2 final. Kickoff at Gorsuch Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m.

A high-profile slate of NAIA basketball matchups are coming to Grace next week.

Hoosier Hysteria was alive and well at the Hardwood Teepee at Wawasee High School Wednesday night as the Lady Warriors hosted Manchester in the tip-off game of the 2022-23 high school basketball season. Wawasee fans were able to spend their drive home happy as the Lady Warriors dominated the Lady Squires 50-32 to start the season at 1-0.
