Manchester advanced to the semifinals of their sectional bracket in dominant fashion Wednesday night, defeating Bluffton 92-54 at Hamilton High School.

With one loss holding the power to end a team’s season at this stage of the year, games are going to be hard fought and difficult to win. Wednesday’s sectional matchup between Triton and Argos at the Trojan Trench was no different. After 32 minutes of ties, lead changes and all sorts of drama, the Dragons were able to escape with a 50-49 victory after Triton’s final shot went just an inch too long.

Grace’s men’s basketball team overcame a 16-point deficit to repeat as Crossroads League Tournament champions.

The opening night of sectional play from North Side Gym in Elkhart was the last night of the Warsaw Tigers’ season. After struggling for three quarters, the Tigers staged a furious comeback in the fourth that came up just short in the team’s 55-51 loss to Northridge Tuesday night.

Two quality 4A opponents met at the Tiger Den Friday night with the same goal in mind: finish their respective regular seasons with a win. The team that accomplished that goal and eventually sent fans home happy was the Warsaw Tigers, which used a big fourth quarter to pull away from the visiting Carroll Chargers to head into sectional play on a high note with a 60-49 win.

Grace’s baseball team celebrated its third walk-off win of the season to kick off the four-game series with Trinity Christian on Thursday afternoon.

Despite the final score being somewhat lopsided, the Triton Trojans gave the Tippecanoe Valley Vikings a run for their money Friday night at the Trojan Trench. A two-point game in the fourth quarter, a last minute run by the Vikings was all the team needed to escape Bourbon with a 63-46 victory.

Just 32 teams, eight in each of the state’s four classes, remain and have hopes of hoisting a state championship trophy in just over a week in Indianapolis. One of those teams, the Tippecanoe Valley Lady Vikings, will head to LaPorte High school Saturday afternoon for the newly revamped Semi-State round playing some of their best basketball of the season.
