No stranger to competing in, and winning, big races throughout her high school career and prior, Warsaw cross country star Joey Rastrelli announced last week that she will continue her running career on an even bigger stage. The senior is set to bring her talents to the Big Ten, committing to Indiana University to run for the Hoosiers.
Even though it consisted mostly of running the ball, Tippecanoe Valley’s offense still qualified Friday night as a study in “diversity” as far as Jimtown football coach Cory Stoner was concerned.
The stakes were simple as the Warsaw and Mishawaka football teams squared off on Friday night: win, and control your own destiny in the Northern Lakes Conference title race. The Cavemen started the game with purpose and never let up, handing the Tigers a 34-11 loss, their first of the season.
The IHSAA girls golf regional was held Friday morning at Noble Hawk golf course, with six local athletes participating. When the dust settled, only one advanced to the state finals in Carmel next weekend. Warsaw’s Abbey Peterson shot a 73 on the day, placing her in the top three individuals without a team and punching her ticket to state.

It was a senior night to remember for Warsaw volleyball, as the Lady Tigers played their final game at the Tiger Den in 2023 on Thursday night. Warsaw won the match 3-0 (25-8, 25-17, 25-12) to send its seniors off with one more happy memory, while remaining undefeated in Northern Lakes Conference play at 5-0 in the process.

Both the Manchester and Lakeland Christian soccer teams have had their fair share of successes over the past few seasons, with the two sides meeting Tuesday in Winona Lake with both teams in perhaps their best form of the season. The day would belong to the Squires, who used a 3-1 win to snap LCA’s six-game unbeaten streak while extending their own winning streak to six in the process.

After playing two grueling games at the Husky Invitational on Saturday, the Tippecanoe Valley boys soccer team looked a little fatigued in its home game against Mississinewa Monday. The Vikings were never able to fully get it going, falling 3-0.

To put it simply, it looked like a Madden game in Akron on Friday night.
A week after coming away with a win in a sloppy game against Concord, the Warsaw football team looked incredibly sharp on Friday night, trouncing NorthWood 45-21 at home. The Tigers remain undefeated and are now 5-0 for the first time since 2001.
