The national conversation has turned once again to guns following a mass shooting in Florida by a 19-year-old miscreant named Nikolas Cruz.

I have taken a keen interest in the process of aging and all that it entails the older I become. One reason may be the change in attitude regarding the perception of what it means to all of us.

According to a recent article in the Smithsonian magazine, giraffes are disappearing from Africa before scientists can even begin to understand them. Losing these magnificent animals to poachers would be a tragedy for a number of reasons in addition to the fact that people love watching them.
