Ridley Lee Brown, 85, Warsaw, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Nov. 24, 2016, in Mason Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw. On May 26, 1931, he was born in Baxter, Tenn., to Ridley L. Sr. and Armentia Ritenbury Brown and stepmother Osca Davis. He was united in marriage to Jaunita Campbell on July 1, 1950, in Warsaw. In 1949, he came to the Warsaw area. He retired from Huffer Foundry, Warsaw, and was a member at God’s Highway to Heaven, Warsaw. He is survived by his two sons, Bob (spouse Tanya) Brown and John (spouse Rita) Brown, all of Warsaw; a sister, Marie (spouse Opris) Flatt, Baxter; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded by two sons, Jerry and Larry Brown; five sisters: Mamie Whitaker, Alice Whitaker, Ivy McBroom, Vergie Robinson and Eva Jackson; and a great-grandson, Griffin Douglas. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at God’s Highway to Heaven Church, Warsaw, with the Rev. Bob Brown and the Rev. Don Chadwick officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Silver Lake. Charles Edward Snyder, 70, Columbia City, passed away at 2:55 p.m. Nov. 22, 2016, at Parkview Whitley Hospital. Born Sept. 18, 1946, in Roaring Springs, Pa., he was the son of Wilbur L. and Betty L. Aungst Snyder. He was a resident of Kosciusko County from 1965 to 2004, when he moved to the Whitley County area. He graduated from Central Cove High School in Martinsburg, Pa., with the class of 1964. He attended Grace College, St. Francis College and Indiana University while attending IPFW. On Dec. 19, 2004, he married Patricia J. Goodin.

He was born May 6, 1952, in Virgie, Ky., to James and Rendy Ellen Richardson Crittendon. He attended Weeksbury, Ky., public schools and moved to the North Webster area 48 years ago from Wheelwright, Ky. He was married on May 7, 1970, in Warsaw, to Patricia L. “Pat” Maynard, who survives.
Olive Mae Van Dyke, 89, Warsaw, passed away at 6:38 a.m. Nov. 22, 2016, in Grace Village Healthcare Center, Winona Lake. On May 2, 1927, she was born in Burket to Orval David and Martha Mabel Miller Slife. She was raised as a farm girl. She graduated from Burket High School in 1945. She was in the last class to graduate from Burket High School. She worked for Dr. Lee Dentistry, L.M. Berry and Co., Yellow Pages and Gatke Corp. She then worked for Ramsey News for 40 years. She is survived by her son, David Gene Van Dyke, Warsaw; her companion, Marcus Kosins, Warsaw; her niece, Linda Tomaselli, Florida; and two nephews, Robert Haupert, New Mexico, and Richard Haupert, California. She was preceded by her parents and her sister, Lena Belle Haupert. Lloyd Robert Landis, 90, Warsaw, passed away at his residence at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 20, 2016. He was born Nov. 28, 1925, in North Manchester, to Lynn Leslie and Rhea M. Rager Landis. He was married on July 2, 1948, to Helen Irene Hartzler, who survives in Warsaw. He was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 60 years. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic in Japan. Most of his life he farmed and raised sheep. He also worked at Playtime Products, Kinder Manufacturing, Uniroyal and Zimmer Inc. He was a mold press operator until his retirement from Zimmer Inc., Warsaw, in 1995. Along with his wife, he will be lovingly remembered by his son: Larry (wife Teresa) Landis, Warsaw; daughter, Connie Morgan, Fort Myers, Fla.; three grandchildren: Andrea Landis and Dean Landis, both of Warsaw, and Laura (husband Cole) Foltz, Etna Green; a brother, LeRoy (wife Rose Anna) Landis, North Manchester; and his sister, Lauretta Moore, Macy. Paula Jane Sydow, 67, Fort Wayne, formerly of Warsaw and Valparaiso, passed away at 10:58 a.m. Nov. 17, 2016, at Luthern Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born May 23, 1949, in Michigan City, to Harold and Angeline Widelski Putz. On May 23, 1970, in Michigan City, she married Larry Sydow, who survives in Fort Wayne. She graduated from Michigan?City Elston High School in 1968, and was a graduate of the Gemological Institute of America. She and her husband owned Sydow Antique Shop, Pierceton, and formerly in Valparaiso. She loved to cross stitch and enjoyed gardening. She loved animals and was a canary breeder; at one time she had 80 canaries. A positive influence to all, she was always joyful, caring and selfless. She was a living example of unconditional love.
Michael A. "Mike" Baumgartner, 67, Syracuse, passed away Nov. 16, 2016, at his home. He was born Oct. 17, 1949, in Goshen, to Richard Earl and Marjorie J. Miller Baumgartner. He graduated in 1967 from New Paris High School and was a United States Navy veteran. He grew up in Syracuse and lived in Alaska and Oregon for several years before returning to the Syracuse area in the 1990s. He was formerly employed with a logging company in Alaska for 20-plus years and Sudlow Pier Shop in Syracuse for eight years. He was a former member of American Legion Post 223, Syracuse. He is survived by a sister, Judy (spouse Dennis) Sharp, Milford; a brother, Jack Baumgartner, Syracuse; a niece, Marjorie Parker-Slusser; and a great-niece and great-nephew, Cassidy Parker and Kailer Slusser.

Brent Wells Silveus, 62, passed away from lung cancer on Nov. 8, 2016. In his final hours, he was comforted by his wife, Kimber, at his Denver Hospice bedside. Brent was born in Warsaw on Jan. 16, 1954. He grew up in the family home on Winona Lake. As a child, he liked to play in the sand pile at the lake side, water ski and spend time outside with neighborhood kids. He had a drum set in the basement, providing a musical outlet that continued into his high school years.
