NORTH WEBSTER — Kathryn Irene “Kay” Beezley, 89, North Webster, passed away at 1:12 a.m. March 19, 2017, at her daughter’s home. She was born Dec. 8, 1927, in Deer Creek, Ill., to Arthur C. and Minnie K. Dietrich Hunteman. She graduated in 1946 from Minier (Ill.) Community High School. She grew up in Illinois and moved to the North Webster area in 1969 from Arizona. She retired over 30 years ago from Webster Wire in North Webster and formerly worked as a part-time waitress at several local restaurants. She was a member of the VFW in Syracuse and a former member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 253, North Webster. She is survived by a daughter, Teresa (Edwin) Reeves, Leesburg; a son, the Rev. Joe (Sheila) Beezley, Warsaw; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Glassey, Bloomington-Normal, Ill.; and a brother, Louie (Gerry) Hunteman, Bloomington, Ill. She was preceded by her parents; two brothers, Melvin Hunteman and Velde Hunteman; and a great-grandchild. Harold Calvin Mullins, 77, Pierceton, passed away at 10:21 p.m. March 17, 2017, in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne. On July 18, 1939, he was born in Myra, Ky., to Jester Estep and Ida Mullins Smith. He was united in marriage to Wilma Mullins on Jan. 27, 1958, in Wise, Va.; she survives. He served our country honorably in the United States Air Force. He was retired from KEMRAD and also worked for Reese Security as a security guard. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Mullins, Pierceton; one son, Jerry Wayne (spouse Gail) Mullins, Claypool; one daughter, Barbara Ann (spouse Jack) Emerick, Auburn; one brother, David (spouse Deneae) Smith, Esserville, Va.; one sister, Barbara Sue (spouse Larry) Mitter, Louise, Virginia; two half sisters, Barbara (spouse Conrad) Burke, Lickfork, Ky., and Anita Elkins, Wellington, Ky.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Joseph Lee Coon, 31, passed away March 19, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born May 31, 1985, in Warsaw. He was a lifelong area resident. He was employed as a welder at Forest River Marine, Middlebury. He was a member of Vineyard Community Church, Syracuse. He is survived by his daughters, Khamya and Realynn; his son, Braxton; parents, Daniel (Jeanette) Coon, Warsaw, and Teresa (Brian) Rich, Cromwell; four sisters: Danielle (Nick) Stickel, Goshen; Ashley Rich, Cromwell; Breonah Rich, Cromwell; and Amanda Brewer, Tennessee; three stepbrothers: Phillip Oest and Tim and Cory Boarders; grandparents: Floyd (Judy) Coon, Lee (Sharon) Polston, Lawrence (Helen) Rich and Tanya Heath; a great-grandmother, Lucielle Coon; three nieces; two nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. GAS CITY — Dorothy Lucille Gore, 96, died Jan. 21, 2017, in Indianapolis. Born May 23, 1920, in Marion, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Anna Deihl Russell, and she married Chester M. Gore in 1939. A very hard worker all of her life, she worked at several jobs and locations, including Deluxe Coil, B. Walters and Gore’s Nursing Home. She retired from Owens-Illinois/Kimble Glass and then worked at Penguin Point Drive-in in Warsaw until her 80s. She is survived by her brother, Ron (spouse Dixie) Russell, Fairmount; daughter, Judith Engledow, Wabash; son, Steven (spouse Joan) Gore, Indianapolis; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives. She was preceded by her parents; husband; brother, Kenneth Russell; sister, Cleophia (Cecil “Buck”) Poulson; daughter, Lucinda “Cindy” Jane Gore; and son-in-law, Jack Engledow. MILFORD — John Elmer Gardner Jr., 84, Milford, passed away March 18, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse. He was born June 14, 1932, to John Elmer Sr. and Florence Estella Orn Gardner in Milford. He graduated from Milford High School and went on to honorably serve his country in the U.S. Navy as an air flight instructor during the Korean conflict. During his service, he received training to be an electrician, which he put to use at Koontz Wagner Electric Company for many years.

COLUMBIA CITY — Mary Louise Rowland, 84, South Whitley, died at 11 p.m. March 19, 2017, at Peabody Home, North Manchester, where she had been a resident since Jan. 10. She was born Aug. 29, 1932, in Jackson Township, Kosciusko County, a daughter of Benjamin and Susie Maloy Jontz. Her formative years were spent in Kosciusko County. She graduated from Silver Lake High School and continued her education at Ivy Tech. On Jan. 3, 1953, she was united in marriage to Duane M. Rowland. They made their home in Silver Lake. While Duane served in the U.S. Navy, they lived in San Diego, then returning to Silver Lake and in 1969 to Cleveland Township, Whitley County.
Verna Miller, 93, Bourbon, died at 1:30 p.m. March 19, 2017, at her residence, surrounded by her family, after a short illness. She was born June 4, 1923, to Reuben and Fannie Farmwald Yoder in Nappanee. She was a lifetime area resident. On July 19, 1942, she married Irvin D. Miller in Nappanee. He preceded her in death June 16, 1990.

Max E. Miller, 87, of Leesburg, passed away at 2:30 p.m., March 16, 2017, in his residence.
The Rev. Kenneth Alva Burris Jr., Pierceton, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 14, 2017, in Homewood, Ill., at the age of 84. He was born March 28, 1932, in Peoria, Ill., to Kenneth Alva and Audreyanna Price Burris. On Aug. 20, 1954, he married Delora June Ryan, who passed away Sept. 5, 2010. He served as a Presbyterian pastor for more than 30 years, pastoring numerous churches in Illinois, Ohio and Indiana. He retired as pastor of Attica-Williamsport Presbyterian Church in Attica in 1995, and in retirement served churches in Lake Prairie and Lake Village. He received his B.A. from Millikin University in 1953 and his Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary in 1961. He also served for a time as a development officer at Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, W.Va., and Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Ala. He moved to Winona Lake in 2008. He loved the Lord, and he loved people. Many people in the churches he served and attended were blessed by his care, compassion and counsel. He was a devoted husband and father, and delighted in his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters, Deanna (husband Roger) Bryant, Midland, Mich., and Joy (husband Scott) Eshleman, Homewood; son, James (wife Norma) Burris, Toledo, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Ruth Burris, Genoa, Ohio; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his half sister, Alicia Laddin, Mission Viejo, Calif. He was preceded by his parents; Delora, his wife of 56 years; son Duane Burris; grandson Andrew Burris; and great-grandson Alex Lopez. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. A private family service is planned Monday at the funeral home. Lila Mae Sheely, Winona Lake, passed away at 3:30 p.m. March 5, 2017, at her residence at the age of 78. She was born Sept. 30, 1938, in Greentown, Ohio, to Benjamin Thomas Jr. and Alma Fern Stickle Sheely. She spent her lifetime serving, learning and teaching. Never wasting a minute, she received her nursing degree in Ohio in 1960. She spent three years at Grace College and Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, finally receiving her master's degree in 1992 from Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion. She worked as a nurse for 15 years in Arizona and Indiana. She went to France to study French, and studied tropical diseases in Belgium. She served as a missionary nurse for 20 years in the Central African Republic. When she returned to the U.S., she taught at Indiana Wesleyan University in the nursing division for seven years until her retirement.
Dallas E. Fox, 81, died March 15, 2017, at Goshen Hospital. He was born March 16, 1935, in Milford, to Elmer LeRoy and Pearle Slabaugh Fox. On Aug. 29, 1959, he married Mary Louise Sheets at Bethany Church of the Brethren. She survives along with three children: Debra Patterson, Milford; Monica (spouse Ernie) Wagler, New Paris; and Scott (spouse Michele) Fox, Warsaw; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded by a granddaughter, Courtney Fox; a son-in-law, Thomas Patterson; a sister, Esther Berkey; and three brothers: Delbert, Dewey and Robert Fox.
