Deanna “Dede” Myers, 78, a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, passed away quietly at 2:54 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, in Warsaw’s Kosciusko Community Hospital. Deanna was born July 25, 1939, near North Webster. She was the daughter of Fredric Kuhn and D’Maris Shock Kuhn. She was a 1957 graduate of Leesburg High School. On Sept. 24, 1960, Deanna was united in marriage to Ralph J. Myers in their pastor’s Dunkirk home. Together the two would share nearly 57 years before her passing. Ralph survives in Warsaw. Never one to shy away from work, Deanna held several jobs throughout her life. From 1960 to 1972 she managed Bibler Trailer Court. She had also worked for the Times-Union newspaper in several capacities but, most recently, she had worked in central filing for Lake City Bank. She retired from the bank in 2004 with 22 years of faithful service. Equally as fun-loving as hardworking, Deanna served as a Girl Scout leader through the ’60s and ’70s. She loved children and time spent with family and her grandchildren. She had worked in the Kosciusko County Fair Agricultural Department for 25 years and enjoyed both canning and baking. She was also a 50-year member of the Herscher Home Extension and was county president at one time.  She loved to camp and had a special fondness for the mountains. Locally, she was a longtime member of New Salem Church of the Brethren. In addition to her loving husband, Ralph, Deanna is survived by two daughters, Bobbi (Garry) Barnes, Claypool, and Penni Myers, North Webster; seven grandsons: Jason Spore (Kylie Seaton), Phoenix, Ariz.; Sean (Karri) Spore, Winona Lake; Jeff (Loretta “Gabby”) Barnes, Lafayette; Brian (Amber) Barnes, Wanatah; Doug (Lindsay) Barnes, Jackson, Tenn.; Brad Barnes (fiancée Jess Chilcutt), Rochester; and Jacob (Sarah) Myers, Churubusco; one granddaughter, Amanda Myers (companion Alan Wireman), Churubusco; 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers: Paul Kuhn, Silver Lake; Kim (Shirley) Kuhn, Warsaw; Chad (Deb) Kuhn, Warsaw; and Harry “Lowell” (Nina) Miller, Franklin; and four sisters: Ruth Ann (Dick) Weymouth, Owensville; Janet Miller, Goshen; Karen (Ron) Gifford, Vernal, Utah; and Pam (Keith) Harrison, Indianapolis. She was preceded in passing by her mother and step-father, D'Maris and Harry Miller; father and stepmother, Fredric and Mary Maxine Kuhn; and brothers, Derk Kuhn and Bruce Kuhn. The family will receive friends at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw, from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6.  A funeral service that celebrates the life Deanna lived will take place in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday, with viewing one hour prior; Pastor Tim Yoder will preside. NORTH WEBSTER — Deborah Sue “Deb” Myers, 59, Pierceton, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at her home.  She was born Feb. 20, 1958, in Kendallville, to Frank Jr. and Imo Jean DeLong Wilson.  She attended Albion and Kendallville public schools and moved in 1984 to the Larwill/Pierceton area from Albion. She was married on Nov. 17, 1984, in Columbia City, to Claude V. “Butch” Myers Jr., who survives. 

NORTH MANCHESTER — Phyllis L. Barger, 68, North Manchester, died              at 4:35 a.m. Sept. 4, 2017, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester. She was born March 8, 1949, in Norfolk, Va., to Guy and Wilma Iliff Hurraw She married Thomas Barger on June 1, 1968. He survives.  She worked as a receptionist for many companies, including Peabody and Beacon Credit Union. No calling or services are planned. NAPPANEE — Savannah Rae Miller, 8, special needs daughter of Vancen and Melanie Hostetler Miller of Bourbon, died unexpectedly of natural causes at 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at her residence. She was born Oct. 16, 2008, in Bourbon, and attended Argos Elementary School.   Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today at Sandy Ridge Mennonite Church. Ministers Collier Berkshire and Lyle  Bontrager will officiate.   Burial will be in Bethel Conservative Church Cemetery.

ROCHESTER — Joseph Frank Aguinaga, 79, Rochester, passed away at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, at Woodlawn Hospital. He was born May 9, 1938, in Chicago, to Cresencio and Susan Hernandez Aguinaga. On May 9, 2007, in Logansport, he married Helen Ellen Walczak, who survives. He served with the U.S. Army. A celebration of his life will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, with calling one hour prior, in Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. S. Marie Hungerford, 94, passed away at 5 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake. She was born April 30, 1923, in Washington, D.C., to Marie Hart and Harry Bien. On Aug. 24, 1946, in Washington, she was married to Eugene Nathaniel Hungerford, who passed away Oct. 6, 2009. She attended Pleasant View Bible Church, Warsaw.  A private graveside service will be conducted at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, and officiated by Father Douglas E. Thelma Ruth Hammond, 85, Angola, formerly of Warsaw, passed away at 4:35 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, at Northern Lakes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Angola.  She was born Feb. 13, 1932, to John and Marie McKibbon Lursen in Kosciusko County. She was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. She retired from Uniroyal, Warsaw. She also worked part time for various other businesses, including Pizza Hut and Country Door and Frame. She was a former member of American Legion Auxiliary, Leesburg, and Leesburg Eastern Star. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hammond, Warsaw; a sister-in-law, Jean Lursen, Leesburg; a niece, Cindy (spouse Brian) Lursen, and several other nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Willie.  She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Howard and Fred Lursen; and a niece, Robin Lursen. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Rob Seewald officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral chapel. NORTH MANCHESTER — Franklin M. Geiser, 94, North Manchester, died at 8:38 p.m. Sept. 2, 2017, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. He was born Jan. 27, 1923, in Lake Odessa, Mich., to George F. and Mina M. Mote Geiser. He married Lois Martin on Jan. 20, 1952. She died Oct. 27, 2009. Mamie June Fields, 76, Warsaw, passed away at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, in Warsaw.  She was born July 4, 1941, in Dwale, Ky., to Virgil and Lillie Jane Castle Blair. She was a Warsaw resident since 1957. On March 12, 1958, she was united in marriage to Harvey Ray Fields.  She was a former employee of Holiday Bowling Lane. She is survived by her sons, Ed R. Fields, Warsaw, and Larry Fields, Warsaw; daughters: Teresa “Rita” Jackson, Warsaw; Melissa “Lisa” (spouse Scott) Kessler, Warsaw; and Lillian “Pip” (spouse Mike) Bradley, Claypool; sisters, Betty Jane Lewis, Pierceton, and Virgie Little, Prestonsburg, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Ray Fields, in 1994; two brothers, four sisters and one granddaughter also preceded her in death. Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.  A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at the funeral chapel. NAPPANEE — Wilma D. Yoder Miller Stutzman, 78, Nappanee, died at 5:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at her residence.  She was born Oct. 18, 1938, in Nappanee, to Daniel and Susan Mast Yoder. On Dec. 8, 1960, she married Raymond E. Miller. He preceded her in death Jan. 5, 2008. On March 10, 2011, she married Edward J. Stutzman. He survives. Funeral services were today at the Marlon Schrock residence, Nappanee, with the home ministry of the Old Order Amish Church officiating.  Burial will be in West Union Center Amish Cemetery.

PLYMOUTH — Carl Junior Magnuson, 89, died at 2:40 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at Grace Village, Winona Lake. Carl was born Dec. 27, 1927, at home, in Darlow, Kan., to the late Carl S. and Hattie B. Nelson Magnuson. He attended Jimtown and Mishawaka high schools and graduated from LaPaz High School in the class of 1945. He also graduated from the South Bend College of Commerce in accounting. While employed at Bendix Products division he met Laura Mae Clark from Galien, Mich. They married on June 24, 1950, and had six daughters: Carolyn (Marshall) Fry, Defiance, Ohio; Cindy (Art) Bushen, Warsaw; Peggy (Jeff) Riffle, Charlotte, Mich.; Patricia (Gordon) Gilbert, Plymouth; Carla (Dennis) Waddill, Winona, Texas; and Cheryl (Jesse) DeBoest, Warsaw. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Laura passed away April 26, 2000. On Jan. 6, 2001, Carl married Mary Hobson in LaPaz. She survives him along with two stepchildren to Carl, Janet (Robert) Covill, Battle Creek, Mich., and Jon (Jackie) Hobson, Queen Valley, Ariz. He is also survived by six stepgrandchildren, 14 stepgreat-grandchildren and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.  Also surviving are three brothers and one sister: John (Mary) Magnuson, Sebring, Fla.; Ivan (Shirley) Magnuson, Plymouth; Ralph (Treva) Magnuson, Sebring; and Cleo (Bob) Shidler, LaPaz; along with many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Norman Dale Magnuson; and two sisters, Wanda Lemert and Alta Kime. Carl served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was employed as a cost accountant at Bendix, now Honeywell, for almost 40 years. He served 10 years on the Union-North Building Corp. Board of Trustees and 16 years on the Union North Board of School Trustees. He was a hobby farmer, woodworker and collector of toy cars. He recently indulged in painting and Wii game bowling, and embraced technology while researching his family tree on his computer. A member of Calvary Baptist Church, LaPaz, he served as a deacon, trustee, treasurer and Sunday school teacher. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Sept. 1, at Calvary Baptist Church, 330 Cortland St., LaPaz.  Funeral services will be at the church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Nathan Rettinger, assisted by Steve Partridge, will officiate. Rose Robinson Elliott, 79, Warsaw, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 31, 2017. Rose was born Oct. 20, 1937, in Wabash County, to Clay and Annie Whitaker Shepherd. She married Donald “Robby” Robinson on June 22, 1957; he preceded her in death Sept. 15, 1988.

NORTH MANCHESTER — Anna Belle Gardenour Land, 92, North Manchester, died at 4:10 p.m. Aug. 22, 2017, in Timbercrest Senior Living, North Manchester. She was born April 23, 1925, in Huntington, to Donald and Cecil Divilbiss Gardenour. She married Bernard W. Land on June 3, 1944. He passed away May 18, 2003.

William James “Jim” McCleary, 87, Winona Lake, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.   Jim was born May 29, 1930, in Rock Island, Ill., to Ruth Churchill and Herbert McCleary. On Dec. 29, 1961, he married Charlotte Arlene Robison Howard, who passed away Sept. 13, 2003. 

Carol R. Forbes, Winona Lake, passed into the presence of her Lord at 9:16 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, 2017, at Parkview Hospital Randallia, Fort Wayne, at the age of 81 after a 4½ year battle with breast cancer.  She was born July 13, 1936, in Painesville, Ohio, to Elizabeth Sabo and Fred George Rohloff. On June 28, 1963, she was married to Walter Merwin Forbes, who survives.
