Anna Belle Gardenour Land

NORTH MANCHESTER — Anna Belle Gardenour Land, 92, North Manchester, died at 4:10 p.m. Aug. 22, 2017, in Timbercrest Senior Living, North Manchester.

She was born April 23, 1925, in Huntington, to Donald and Cecil Divilbiss Gardenour. She married Bernard W. Land on June 3, 1944. He passed away May 18, 2003.

She graduated in 1943 from Huntington Township High School, where she had been in drama and debating. 

She worked in the public schools cafeteria for 20 years. She managed a school cafeteria in Elgin, Ill., and also worked as a homemaker. 

Anna Belle was a generous person to those in need. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She lived in Elgin for 40-plus years and was a member of Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren, Elgin, and the sewing circle at Timbercrest. After moving to Timbercrest, Anna Belle volunteered in Health Care mending, delivering mail to Health Care and working in the gift shop. 

She was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester.

Survivors include three sons: Larry (Patricia) Land, Palos Heights, Ill.; Ron (Cindy) Land, Eugene, Ore.; and Scott (Lou-Ann) Land, Perryville, Ky.; a daughter, Kathy (Dennis) Powell, Palm Desert, Calif.; a sister, Lois (Richard) Johnston, North Manchester; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

One  brother preceded her in death.

A memorial service is planned for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East St., North Manchester. Pastor Karen Eberly will officiate. 

Calling will begin at 1 p.m. Sept. 16 at the chapel. 

A graveside service will be at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 16 in Maple Grove Cemetery, 750 W. 500N, Huntington.

Arrangements were entrusted to McKee Mortuary, North Manchester.
