Linda Allen, 70, Pierceton, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 19, 2017, in Parkview Hospital Randallia, Fort Wayne. Arrangements are pending at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.  

NORTH WEBSTER — Diana Lynn Wade, 66, Syracuse, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne. 

NAPPANEE — Billy C. “Bill” George, 79, Wakarusa, died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Milford, after an extended illness.   

BOURBON — Cameron A. Scarberry, 16, Etna Green, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, in rural Kosciusko County, as a result of injuries he suffered in an automobile accident.

Raymond Fred “Ray” Williamson, 90, passed away peacefully at 3 p.m. Sept. 12, 2017, at his home on the family farm where he lived his entire life.  He was born June 2, 1927, in Prairie Township, to Fred Williamson and E. Fern Yeiter Williamson.

Dean Allen Stewart, 52, Winona Lake, passed away at 12:48 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.   Arrangements are pending with McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapels.

NORTH WEBSTER — Diana L. Wade, 66, Syracuse, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.  Arrangements are pending at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster.  

NORTH MANCHESTER — Beth Loraine Cooper, 75, North Manchester, died at 12:51 a.m. Sept. 17, 2017, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester. She was born Dec. 12, 1941, in Rochester, to John W. and Grace K. Thompson Moyer. She worked at Peabody Seating Co., North Manchester, for 20 years. Verlos “Gene” Myers, 82, Royal, Ark., passed away  Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at CHI St. Vincent, Hot Springs. He was born Oct. 18, 1934, at home near Bluffton, the son of Gale and Wealtha Myers. On Dec. 20, 1954, he married Peggy Vanator.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

On Sept. 9, 2017, after battling cancer for several months, Michael Freeman Hanna, oldest son of Virgina Dimon and Ardel Hanna, passed away while watching the Notre Dame football game. Known to most as “Mike,” he was 67 at the time of his passing.

SYRACUSE — Sarah Jane Lewis, 86, Syracuse, passed away at 11:55 p.m.  Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at Mason Health & Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.  She was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Wells County, to Wilford G. and Artha Kleinknight Nash. She graduated in 1949 from Lancaster High School, and on Dec. 23, 1948, in Covington, Ky., she married Forrest V. Lewis, who survives.  She retired as owner/operator of Lewis Standard Oil filling station, Ossian, after 35 years and from Custom Services Fundraising, Syracuse, after 20 years. She moved to Syracuse in 1984 from Ossian. 

 Merle E. Hostetler, 77, Denver, formerly of Gilead, died at 2:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at his residence.  Arrangements are pending at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.   

The Rev. D. Robert “Bob” Griffith, 89, Winona Lake, died at 5:30 a.m. today, Sept. 19, 2017, in his residence. Arrangements are pending with Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.  

Steven W. “Steve” Solina, 68, Syracuse, passed away at 4:44 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at Mason Health & Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.  He was born Sept. 30, 1948, in South Charleston, W.Va., to Bernard Homer and Margaret E. Chapman Solina. He grew up in West Virginia and attended St. Albans (W.Va.) High School. He moved to the Syracuse area in September 1968 from West Virginia and was married on Jan. 11, 1969, in Syracuse, to Connie L. Brown, who survives. 

NAPPANEE — Earl A. Brown, 87, Nappanee, passed away at 9:08 p.m.  Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family after a six-month illness.  He was born June 23, 1930, in Riceville, Ky., to Ed and Myrtie Fraily Brown. Mr. Brown was a graduate of Silver Lake High School. He served with the United States Marines in Korea.  On Nov. 14, 1954, he married Zenal Grow in Decatur.  Earl retired from Champion Motor Homes. He was a member of Nappanee Missionary Church and Nappanee American Legion. He enjoyed his spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and woodworking. Surviving are his wife, Zenal; children: Michael (Rhonda) Brown, David (Marsha Jones) Brown and Kim (Kendall) Young, all of Nappanee; grandchildren: Kyle (Katie) Young, Dewart Lake; Kurt (Jennifer) Young, James (Lisa) Allen, and Matthew, Brandon and Corey Brown, all of Nappanee; and Christina (Jake) Burris, Phoenix, Ariz.; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Metzger, Tampa, Fla. and a brother, Bob (Noretta) Brown, Warsaw. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4  p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel. Memorial services will begin at 4 p.m. Pastor Dave Engbrecht will officiate.  Military services will take place after the service, and inurnment will be in Union Center Cemetery at a later date. ***** Memorials to Goshen Hospice or Nappanee Missionary Church.

COLUMBIA CITY — Ruth R. Sauers, 83, Columbia City, died at 11:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor, where she had been a resident since January. She was born Sept. 12, 1934, in Wolf Lake, a daughter of Glen L. and Bertha E. Winckler Witmer. Her formative years were spent in Etna Township, Whitley County. She graduated from North Webster High School. On May 27, 1953, she was united in marriage to Foy F. Sauers. They made their home on the Sauers family farm. Mr. Sauers died Aug. 4, 1990. In 1993 Ruth moved to Columbia City. In addition to assisting her husband on the family farm, Ruth worked at Etna Troy School as an assistant cook for 13 years, United Telephone in Warsaw for several years, Penguin Point Franchise, Whitley County Memorial Hospital as a cook for 10 years and Sidewalk Café for five years. She was a member of American Legion Post 98 Auxiliary and affiliated with Etna United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and doing puzzles, and loved to read. Surviving relatives include a son, Steven S. Sauers, Larwill; four grandchildren: Sie Sauers, Wisconsin; Sara Sauers, Orlando Fla.; Scot (Amy) Sauers, Orlando; and Sheila Sauers, South Whitley; a great-grandson, Eli Sauers; and two sisters, Gloria Miller and Glenna Werstler, both of Pierceton. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Sauers; and two sisters, Zelpha Ginter and Lucille Keck. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. FORT WAYNE — Richard T. Wiley, 89, Fort Wayne, peacefully passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017.  He was born in Fort Wayne, the son of the late John and Rose Wiley. 

Kathryn Ann Jagodzinski, 65, passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2017. 

Dr. Helen Marla Mutschler, 82, passed away in her sleep, Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, in Oro Valley, Ariz., following several months of respiratory illness.

ROCHESTER — Lillian L. Hager, 95, Rochester, died at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at her residence. She was born April 7, 1922, in Chicago, Ill., to Adolph and Bertha Krueger Mantey. On Nov. 29, 1941, in Chicago, she was married to Robert Charles Hager. He died May 10, 1997. A celebration of her life will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Chaplain John Morgan will officiate. SYRACUSE — Charles M. “Charlie” Harris, 94, passed away Sept. 13, 2017, at Goshen Hospital.  He was born July 21, 1923, in Goshen, to Clarence J. and June Beck Harris.  Charlie graduated from Jefferson High School in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II as a gunner on merchant marine ships.
