SYRACUSE — Sarah Jane Lewis, 86, Syracuse, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at Mason Health & Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.
She was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Wells County, to Wilford G. and Artha Kleinknight Nash.
She graduated in 1949 from Lancaster High School, and on Dec. 23, 1948, in Covington, Ky., she married Forrest V. Lewis, who survives.
She retired as owner/operator of Lewis Standard Oil filling station, Ossian, after 35 years and from Custom Services Fundraising, Syracuse, after 20 years. She moved to Syracuse in 1984 from Ossian.
She was a member of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, Syracuse.
She is survived by her husband, Forrest Lewis, Syracuse; a son, Forrest Randall (Carol) Lewis, Ossian; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Linda) Nash, Cleveland, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Amy Jo Yeager; and a brother, William Nash.
Private family services will be held at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, with Pastor Harlan Steffen officiating.
Cremation will follow at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, Warsaw. Private family scattering will take place at a later date.
