Phylis Ann Barthel, 72, Milford, walked into eternity Friday, Feb. 16, 2018, at Goshen Hospital. She was born to Harold and Lillian Koch on April 18, 1945, in Evergreen Park, Ill. Phylis graduated from Dwight D. Eisenhower High School with the class of 1963. She married Jack E. Barthel Jr. on Aug. 14, 1965, in Blue Island, Ill.
Jay L. Egolf, 62, North Manchester, died at 1:57 p.m. March 6, 2018, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born May 24, 1955, in Wabash, to Earl L. Jr. and Amelia Butler Egolf. He married Susan Leffel on April 9, 2004. She survives. He was an automobile body technician for many years. He loved being a papaw.
Linda K. Geiger, 77, Akron, left us too soon after passing away on Feb. 21, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Fishers due to complications with lung cancer. She joins her loving husband, Roland “Bud” Geiger, who preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 2002. Linda was born Jan. 30, 1941, in Rochester, to Willis E. and Mary E. Meinert Nelson. She was one of four children and the only daughter. Linda and Bud were married on Aug. 26, 1963. As Linda often said, she and Bud started life with $13, a suitcase and a duffel bag.
Kevin Raymond Korth passed away suddenly and peacefully in Phoenix, Ariz., Feb. 21, 2018. He was 55 years old. Kevin was born to Robert and Barbara Korth on Sept. 18, 1962, in South Bend. As a child, he grew up in Warsaw and attended Sacred Heart Elementary School. In 1972, the family moved to Durango, Colo., where he attended Riverview Elementary, Miller Jr. High School and in 1981 graduated from Durango Sr. High School
Bonnie E. Rosdil Lee, 67, Warsaw, passed away at 8:14 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, in her residence. She was born Aug. 11, 1950, to William “Ben” and Violet Swiek Wagner in Hammond.
Robert A. "Bob" Carlson, 68, Syracuse, passed away at 1:06 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born Aug. 7, 1949, in Goshen, to Max H. and Ruth E. “Eloise” Richhart Carlson. He graduated in 1967 from Syracuse High School and attended Ball State University in Muncie and Emporia State Teacher’s College in Emporia, Kan. He was a United States Army veteran and was married on Jan. 8, 1972, in Fort Leavenworth, Kan., to Lorena B. “Rena” Smith, who survives. He was the owner/operator of Maxwelton Golf Club since 1986 and had been a golf pro there since 1975. He lived in the Syracuse area most of his life except for five years when he resided in Colorado and Kansas.
Richard E. Lowe, Warsaw, entered the gates of heaven Monday evening, March 5, 2018, at the age of 62. There was a distinct look of enlightenment in his eyes prior to taking his last breath. He was surrounded by an adoring mother, loving daughter and an army of siblings. He was loved by all for his humble spirit, zest for life, and kind and gentle nature. He made time for everyone and greeted all with a warm welcoming smile. “Ricky” made the world a better place and will be sadly missed in the community.
David Alexander Hutton, 91, Winona Lake, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake. He was born Oct. 5, 1926, to Robert Andrew and Alice Wilson Hutton. On July 1, 1950, he was married to Shirley Jean Weber. She died Oct. 15, 2004.

At midnight on Monday, March 5, 2018, Wayne Bauer, 83, of Warsaw, finished his race and went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ. Born on Oct. 3, 1934, to Henry and Aina Bauer in Chicago, Ill., Wayne attended Steinmetz High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force for six years (airman second class) and met his wife Edith while stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany. Despite his initial claim that she was “too young and too short,” they ended up married for 58 years.
Marvin Edward Engbrecht, 95, Nappanee, died March 4, 2018. He was born Nov. 20, 1922, near Dolton, S.D., to David H. and Tena Duerksen Engbrecht. On Dec. 25, 1942, he married Anne Viola Tschetter; she preceded him in death after 74 years of marriage.
Jeffery D. Flora, 53, Claypool, died at 4:04 p.m. March 3, 2018, in Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. He was born May 16, 1964, in Lafayette, to Dennis E. and Julia A. Kinzie Flora. They survive in Peru. On March 16, 1991, he married Sarah K. Stambaugh. She survives.

Evelyn Godeke Rettinger was born July 7, 1936, in Elberfeld, to William and Margaret Godeke. She passed away Jan. 16, 2018, at Community Hospital, Bremen. Evelyn married Herman Charles Rettinger on March 16, 1957, at Zoar United Church of Christ, Elberfeld. The two met through Indiana 4-H Congress activities. Evelyn graduated from Millersburg High School in Warrick County, then from Purdue University in 1959 with a degree in home economics.
Dorcas A. Kipker, 84, Warsaw, passed away at 3:35 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw. She was born Dec. 7, 1933, in Warsaw, to Roger and Bessie Snellenberger McConnell. On April 8, 1955, in Warsaw, she was united in marriage to Elzin A. Kipker, who preceded her on Dec. 11, 2016.
Robert E. “Bob” Hull, 97, the youngest child of Ernest and Lydia Hull of Warsaw, passed away Feb. 22, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. Bob served in the Marine Corps in World War II in Australia, the North Somalia Islands and the Pacific area for four years; and was a lifetime member of Post 49, Warsaw.
Sherwood. T. “Tom” Peters, 61, Syracuse, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2018. at Goshen Hospital. He was born March 1, 1957, in Stroudsburg, Pa., to Sherwood Lloyd and Alice Miller Peters. He grew up in Pennsylvania and attended East Stroudsburg (Pa.) High School. He was married in April 1986 in East Stroudsburg to Norma Prybo, who preceded him on Nov. 20, 2015.
Sandra “Sandy” Ellis, 62, Warsaw, passed away at 4:49 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018, in her residence. She was born January 22, 1956, in Ellijay, Ga., to Ted and Sarah Chastain Carringer. She lived most of her life in Kosciusko County. On April 7, 1984, she was united in marriage to Jim Ellis in Warsaw. During her life, she worked at Little Crow Foods as a quality control specialist; she previously worked for the USDA as well.
Eva Mae Foss Buchanan, 90, died Saturday, March 3, 2018, in North Manchester. Eva was born May 25, 1927, to Fred and Lena Quint Foss in rural Massac County, Ill. She married Dr. William J. Buchanan on Dec. 13, 1953, in Metropolis, Ill. He died Jan. 19, 2009.
Sandra Rivera, 71, died Feb. 28, 2018, in Warsaw. She was born Aug. 14, 1946, in Warsaw, to Cleon and Thelma Johnson Cox.
Wayne Bauer, 83, Warsaw, died at 12:50 a.m. today, March 5, 2018, in his residence.
Jeremy A. Hartzell, 35, Nappanee, died Friday, March 2, 2018, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was born Dec. 4, 1982, in Elkhart, to Richard and Theresa Craig Hartzell. They survive in Nappanee.
Bonnie E. Lee, 67, Warsaw, died today, March 5, 2018, in her residence.
