Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals discussed multiple petitions for two Syracuse residences on North Kings Drive during a board meeting Tuesday.

County Commissioner Cary Groninger gave a brief update Tuesday during the commissioners’ meeting on the Justice Building repair work.

Every January, the Kosciusko County treasurer is required to go before the County Commissioners, as the Board of Finance, and present to them all of the county’s investments and policy for the year.

Kosciusko County, in cooperation with the city of Warsaw and the towns of Burket, Claypool, Etna Green, Leesburg, Mentone, Milford, North Webster, Sidney, Silver Lake, Syracuse and Winona Lake have prepared an update to the Kosciusko Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan (MHMP) to address the risk and vulnerability of communities in the county which may be affected by known natural, technological and human-caused hazards.

The Warsaw Police Department announced the following promotions within the department.

MILFORD - Board members from the Waubee Lake Association attended the Milford Town Council meeting Monday evening to present a check to the Milford fire chief from the proceeds raised from their Polar Plunge event on Jan. 1.

EVANSVILLE – Andrew Potter, Warsaw, was named to the dean’s list at the University of Evansville. To merit the honor of being placed on the dean's list, a student must have carried a full academic load of 12 hours or more and have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or above.

KENOSHA, Wis. – Students were named to the Carthage College fall 2025 dean's list.

WAVERLY, Iowa – Lydia Miller, Claypool, was named to the Wartburg College fall term dean's list.

FORT WAYNE – The Fort Wayne Zoo is now accepting applications for the 2026 Lawrence A. Ackerman Scholarship, a one-time $3,000 award for college-bound high school seniors pursuing careers in animal-related fields.

FORT WAYNE – Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana will launch the 2026 Girl Scout Cookie season Jan. 30.

FORT WAYNE – Parkview Health announced it has partnered with national nonprofit Undue Medical Debt to abolish $64.13 million in debt for 35,694 patients.

Live Well Kosciusko is expanding its Tower Garden Initiative in 2026 by bringing fresh, locally grown produce and hands-on learning to six locations across the county. This initiative began as a pilot project at Combined Community Services, made possible through a grant from AWS Foundation and Cardinal Services. The tower garden demonstrated how vertical, aeroponic gardens increase fresh access to produce while serving as an education tool, according to a news release from Live Well Kosciusko.
