Letters To The Editor

Editor, Times-Union:A short while back at a fundraiser in Florida presidential candidate Mitt Romney called the United States of America a “company” instead of a “country.” Romney said that “Paul Ryan and he know how the economy works and that they will reach across the aisle and make sure this company (the United States) deals with its challenge.” All along Romney has been trying to convince Americans that his corporate business record qualifies him to be president of the United States.

- The War's Over - Mobile Meals - Polite Child - Thanks To Professionals - What Is A Family? The War's Over Editor, Times-Union: More people died from the last flu epidemic in 15 minutes than are ever going to die from SARS, but the media is portraying it like it's the bubonic plague. Everyone panics, and the first thing they grab is a face mask.I wonder, how many micro-organisms do people think those are going to repel? The media need to leave the spread of fear and insecurity to the terrorists. They're a lot better at it.

- Softball Clarifications - Potter Deceives Children Softball Clarifications Editor, Times-Union: This letter is in response to Barb Kintzel's recent letter to the editor. As with other editorials and letters published recently, I am concerned about the inaccurate information being printed and considered factual by many. First, we were Girls Softball State Champions in 1991 - not 1990.It was also stated that the softball parents, along with coach Rod Yoder, built the softball facility. This is simply not true. The letter also stated that the football parents should put in as much time as the softball parents did in building the softball team's current facility.

Editor, Times-Union:There is a very large contingent of homes that should not be included in the Lakeland Regional Sewer District.

Editor, Times-Union:In tough economic times, parents might find it harder than ever to make sure their children have everything they need for school.

Editor, Times-Union:David Beall's assertion in the 11/10 Times-Union article that the runway at our airport is only 4,084 feet is only partially correct.

- Rumors - Light Sentence Rumors Editor, Times-Union: I would like the opportunity to put a stop to the rumors that are going around about my departure from the company I was employed at here in Warsaw. Currently there are two women who are so unhappy with their own lives they feel the need to ruin mine even more. The reason I departed from my company is no one's business but mine and the company I worked for.But there seems to be a lot of malicious things being said right now about me that are not true.

- Enforcement Not Needed - Welcome Back, Rod Enforcement Not Needed Editor, Times-Union: Saturday I read your article printed in the May 31 edition on "Time to Enforce The Rules on U.S.30."I have to disagree with your idea of putting more cops out on 30 at taxpayers' expense. It's not just paying for more officers' paychecks, we also have to pay for more equipment - cars, uniforms, guns, etc.We also have to keep paying for them for many years.Although I might be able to pay for another tax increase, some others might not.
