Editor, Times-Union: Here we are at election time again, plus budget time, too. I was hoping that everyone would go and vote even though there were not many running in our county. Hmmmm, it makes an individual wonder why.
Editor, Times-Union:As a local health care provider of Medicare certified home health care services, we serve many seniors, most of whom have some form of insurance that promises to pay for these services. Prior to the advent of Medicare Advantage plans, traditional Medicare was the primary payer source for the vast majority of those requesting these services.
Editor, Times-Union:The great Oz is telling us we need immigration reform, but he purposely evades two issues. One is that illegal immigration is not about immigration at all – it is about an illegal alien invasion!

I woke up this morning (Feb.19), hit random play on my CD player, and laid there in bed not ready to get up just yet. Eve 6, the New Radicals, and Soul Coughing were in the player. One song would play off one disc, then when that song was over, the player would move the CDs around and play another disc. Not only can my CD player play CDs at random, it can also turn off and on when I want it to; record a CD onto a tape perfectly; and several other operations that I am not sure I know how to explain here, so I won't.There are also CD players out there that can hold 100 to 300 discs and play them randomly, too. I really want one of those soon. While a CD and CD players aren't anything new, it had me thinking about technology in general and the operations machinery can perform nowadays.

I've had a few things on my mind lately. First of all, I'm sure gonna miss Phil Eherenman.Phil died in his sleep Wednesday morning. I didn't know him as a teacher or a band director or an athlete.I knew the patriot as a tireless promoter of the Lakeland Community Concert Association, which was just one of his many hats. The newsroom staff was shocked at his death because he'd just visited a couple of days earlier. We'll miss his generous smile, sparkling blue eyes and gentle ways. Condolences to Mary and the Eherenman family for their loss. *** Well, the primary election went fine, didn't it? Except the low voter turnout. What more can be done to get people involved in the process? High school government teachers get their students all fired up about registering to vote.Somewhere along the way they become less charmed with the whole idea. I'm still reeling from some of the upsets in the primary, too.
Editor, Times-Union:Hear ye, hear ye, Christians.
