Letters To The Editor

Editor, Times-Union:After I read Mark Dobson’s letter to the editor May 7 in the Times-Union, I felt it was only proper to respond in kind.

- Election Signs - Corneal Tissue - Partial-Birth Abortion - Ted Carter - Local Attorney - Free Speech Election Signs Editor, Times-Union: I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions with regards to the upcoming elections. There are numerous campaign signs posted on state highway property at Parker and U.S.30.Now, I can understand that people running for auditor or controller might not know that it's illegal to post signs on state highway property, but a member of law enforcement should know better.I hope someone else plans on running against Whitaker since he feels he is above the law by posting his signs all over state highway property.

Editor, Times-Union:Every family has had to make tough choices over the past few years due to the present economic conditions.

- Critical Of Police Critical Of Police Editor, Times-Union: I just read the letter from Kevin Paxton and would like to say, "Amen!" I have seen the lack of interest first hand of the police in this …

Editor, Times-Union:Regarding the letter about Mr. Polston's "human sundae," I just want to say that my daughter attends Harrison Elementary School and we think the world of Mr. Polston and the staff at Harrison.

Editor, Times-Union:One hundred fifty years ago near Gettysburg, Penn., the President of the United States rose to give a speech after a two-hour oration by Edward Everett.

Editor, Times-Union:How courageous and inspiring that someone has the fortitude to take on a task that most of us know needs to be addressed.

Editor, Times-Union:This is a story about local heroes.

Editor, Times-Union:Well, well, Tom Metzger is at it again! Politics this time. In his Feb. 12 letter he can't find anything bad to say about the next President of the United States, so he's going back 45 years to find something that might be bad about his daddy - ho hum!

Editor, Times-Union:When a person is elected to become a county commissioner, it is not a part time job.

- Help For CCS - Gun Column - Juries - Campaign Promises Help For CCS Editor, Times-Union: Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus! Please, Mr.Editor, tell me it's not true that Warsaw doesn't have a heart?! 'Cause Combined Community Services made mention in the Times-Union (Nov.3, 1997) that their pantry is empty. They weren't kiddin' - I saw it with my own eyes! I would like to challenge Kosciusko County, but for starters, my neck of the woods, Hodges Additions, to start filling up that pantry.Just $5 a week of the following food items: pastas, cereals, shortening, flour, sugar, powdered milk, evaporated milk, peanut butter, jelly, jams, Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper, macaroni and cheese, and canned tomatoes, potatoes, green beans, peas, carrots, juices, soup and meats.

Editor, Times-Union:On May 23rd of this year, a round-table discussion was held at the University of Denver.

- Replace Souder - Johnson - Prankster - Rudeness - No To Ethanol Plant Replace Souder Editor, Times-Union: I am convinced that we in Indiana's 3rd Congressional District deserve to be represented by someone other than Mark Souder, and in November we will have the opportunity to vote for an excellent replacement. Tom Hayhurst is well qualified to be that replacement.Twelve years ago Mark Souder told us that he believed in "term limits" and that no one should serve in the House of Representatives for more than six consecutive two-year terms. Now he is asking us to elect him to a seventh term.I am not advocating term limits, but I am saying that 12 years has been long enough for Mr.Souder to represent us.

Editor, Times-Union:I got home last evening and read the Times-Union article about the Kosciusko County law enforcement officers ...

- Relationship With God - Rooney - Bad Experience - Clarification - Facts & Fights Relationship With God Editor, Times-Union: A pastor said, "1.- Pray that you be full of God's Holy Spirit, so full, that there will not be room for any bad to enter."Our bodies are temples of God's Holy Spirit, when we are born again Christians. When not, I think some other spirit will dwell there.I think I am correct there is a vacuum to be filled.2.- If you will pray, asking God to reveal Himself to us, He will."Please think about that statement often. I heard a preacher say, "God told me this, etc."I used to kinda wonder, who is he anyway? Recently, I have experienced something that I don't think I had during previous years.

Editor, Times-Union:Southern Kosciusko County is going to be the next disaster area. Just take a drive around and see what is new. The huge building might look like an improvement but the same problems will be there, only larger than they were. This is only the beginning since the APC saw fit to dismiss our group and deny any local ordinances. When conflict of interest rears its ugly head, we pay the price.

Editor, Times-Union:I would like to pass something along, not just to the people covered by the Times-Union...

Editor, Times-Union:Changes over the last several years have left the sheriff’s department in need of some revitalization.

Editor, Times-Union:Well, Mr. Yazel, you probably should have researched the Canada Free Press article for its accuracy.

Editor, Times-Union:This is Lil’ Larry responding to the “Get Help” Letter of 4/20/12 from Terry Bartley.  Terry took the high road by calling me a sick, mentally deranged, angry, childish, hateful, drunken, lying racist druggie.  Terry, is that all you have?  Your response validated my “must beat Obama” letter of 4/17/12.

- Lewis Responds - Ritalin - Pierceton EMS - Winona Fourth - Animal Lover - Cemetery Lewis Responds Editor, Times-Union: I tell ya - these days one really needs a sense of humor.I suppose I don't mind being the source of some community entertainment lately, but I did want to clarify a few things in your recent "Potpourri" column and perhaps this may lead to more local levity.
