The girls track and field season continued its race towards the finish line on Tuesday evening, with 39 area athletes from all seven local schools competing at the IHSAA Regional 2 at Goshen. It was a largely successful night, with eight of those athletes punching their ticket to the state finals.

Having already defeated Concord twice in the regular season, the Warsaw softball team looked for an all-important third victory over the Lady Minutemen as the two teams met at Northridge High School to begin sectional play on Memorial Day. The game was close and well-played for six innings, but it was a five-run seventh by Concord that put green and white in front for good as they ended the Lady Tiger season with a 6-1 win.

Friday night’s rivalry game between the Warsaw and Tippecanoe Valley softball teams was a tale of two contests. The Lady Vikings began the game on fire, scoring 10 runs in the first three innings. However, the Lady Tigers never gave up, scoring 14 straight runs to take a late lead. Seven innings wouldn’t be enough to decide this one, with Valley coming back from down four runs in the seventh and five in the eighth to win it 20-19.

Three out of the four teams still competing in Thursday’s semifinal round of the Warsaw girls tennis sectional were local representatives, as the host Lady Tigers took on Tippecanoe Valley, while Whitko faced off against Columbia City. The Lady Vikings were able to pull off the upset of the day, defeating Warsaw 4-1 to advance to the sectional championship on Friday. The Lady Eagles will be their opponent after taking down the Lady ‘Cats 4-1 as well.

A press conference was held at Warsaw Community High School’s Tiger Den to welcome Kyle Hartman as the seventh head coach in the illustrious history of Lady Tiger Basketball. He was approved for the position at a school board meeting on Monday night.

With Memorial Day fast approaching, it is sectional season for spring sports in Indiana. Beginning postseason play on Tuesday was girls track and field, with three local schools representing the area at Warsaw’s Fisher Field. Seven total records were set, but the end result was the same as usual: The Lady Tigers’ 112.50 points edged out Elkhart by 12.50 as the hosts claimed yet another sectional championship.

Having outscored their opponents 20-0 over the past two games, things looked to be turning around for the Warsaw baseball team. Hosting a Northridge team they defeated 11-1 in late April, the Tigers looked to keep things going. However, it was the Raiders that delivered the game’s first punch and the visitors kept their feet on the gas from there, picking up a stunning 14-0 road victory over the orange and black.

Coming off of a much-improved second regular season for the program, the Warsaw boys volleyball team looked to pick up its first ever sectional victory on Wednesday night when traveling to Northridge to take on Elkhart. Instead, the Lions got off to a 2-0 lead before the Tigers were able to get things going, but eventually, Elkhart was able to escape with a 3-2 victory to send Warsaw home.

The Warsaw Athletic Department will recommend Kyle Hartman as the seventh coach in the history of Lady Tiger Basketball.

After an 0-7 start to the season, the Warsaw softball team has made some big strides in recent weeks. The Lady Tigers looked to keep things going on a trip up to Goshen on Friday night to take on a RedHawk team they defeated last week. A six-run third inning set the tone and eventually carried the team over the finish line for an 8-7 win, the team’s fifth in eight tries.

Looking to turn the corner after three straight losses over the weekend, the Warsaw baseball team made it two wins in a row on Wednesday with a 20-5 victory on the road at Wawasee. The Tiger bats came alive in the victory, scoring runs in every single inning in what was a dominant showing that was led by a seven-RBI performance by Kael Miller.

The track and field season at Warsaw Community high school would feel incomplete without the annual Max Truex Invite, which took place on Friday night. With nine teams making up a competitive field, Penn ended up winning the event for the third consecutive year with a score of 110.33. The Tigers separated themselves in the final events of the night, including a record-breaking performance for Tucker Reed, to finish second with 100 points.

Having dropped its last three games, the Warsaw baseball team continued its road trip with a visit up to Middlebury to take on rival Northridge. After scoring a combined six runs over the last three games, the Tiger bats exploded in this one, putting up a crooked number in each of the first four innings en route to winning 11-1 in five innings.

Having dropped its last two Northern Lakes Conference games, the Warsaw baseball looked to get back on track against rival NorthWood on Tuesday night. Through four innings, the Tigers held a 2-1 lead and were on their way to snapping the skid, but a two-out rally in the fifth proved to be the difference, as the Panthers were able to escape with a 3-2 victory.

The Warsaw Tigers men’s volleyball varsity and junior varsity teams started their matches nearly 30 minutes late due to the delayed arrival of their guests, the Westville Blackhawks, by giving their opponents an earlier departure from Everwise Court in the Tiger Den with 3-0, and 2-0 respective sweeps.

After beginning Northern Lakes Conference play with a win on Monday, the Warsaw baseball team looked to make it two in a row on Wednesday, heading to Goshen to take on the RedHawks. Instead, it was the home team that got off to a quick start and never looked back, putting up three runs or more in three separate innings to defeat the Tigers 11-1.

Meeting on the softball diamond on Tuesday evening, the clash between Columbia City and Warsaw had its ups and downs for both teams. The Lady Eagles started hot, scoring seven runs in the top of the first. The Lady Tigers struck back later in the game, getting a pair of runs in the bottom of the third to put momentum on their side. However, that burst was short lived, as the weather reared its ugly head, causing a fourth-inning postponement with Columbia City up 11-4.

The pitching was fantastic for the Warsaw baseball team on Monday night, as the Tigers hosted Wawasee to begin Northern Lakes Conference play. Striking out 10 Warrior hitters, Warsaw took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of a game they won 6-1.

Lenny Krebs informed the Warsaw athletic department that he is stepping down as the head coach of the Lady Tiger basketball program on Wednesday morning.

Being a varsity basketball player in the state of Indiana requires hard work and dedication. This past season, no player on the boys side demonstrated that more than Warsaw guard Mydin Burgher, who has been named the Times Union’s 2025-26 Player of the Year for boys basketball.

How does one choose between two Indiana All-Stars?  The answer is simple: you don’t.  With both players having been named to the state’s premier team, Warsaw’s Joslyn …

Local Warsaw Track and Field athletes represented the community well this past weekend at the Nike Indoor Nationals Track and Field meet. The group of six WR2 runners along with Nike Elite’s Jordan Randall competed in 10 events over the four days in New York City.

It was clear from the moment Joslyn Bricker and Brooke Zartman took the floor as freshmen that the duo would continue the great history of Lady Tiger basketball. Four years later, they’ve rewritten it. With their remarkable high school careers now finished, both players added one more accolade, perhaps the grandest of them all: being named Indiana All-Stars.

A night after exacting revenge on an Elkhart team that defeated them earlier this year, the Warsaw boys basketball team looked to avenge an early season loss to Northridge on Friday night as the team sought its third straight sectional championship at Elkhart’s North Side Gym. In a physical, back and forth contest, the Tigers gave their opponent everything they had, but the Raiders proved to be too much in a 49-37 win for the green and gold.

Going up by as many as 17 points in its sectional semifinal game against Elkhart, it looked as if it would be smooth sailing for the Warsaw boys basketball team on their way to another sectional championship game. However, a furious second-half rally by the Lions saw the hosts briefly take the lead in the final minutes. But it was the Tigers with the last laugh, as four crucial free throws tied the game and put them in front for good in what was a 37-35 victory for the orange and black.
