Showing improvement as the season has moved along, the Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team looked to pick up another win on Tuesday night with Plymouth visiting Rita Price-Simpson Court. The game was hard-fought and close for all 32 minutes, and the end result was the Vikings picking up a momentum-building 56-54 win.
Both the Manchester and Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball teams came into Tuesday night’s meeting looking for their first win of the season. Both teams battled for all four quarters and then some to get it, but in the end, it was the Squires spoiling former head coach Eli Henson’s return with a 62-57 win in overtime.
With the team’s last game, a heartbreaking loss to rival Rochester, coming over a week ago, the Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball team headed into Wednesday night’s game at Plymouth with something to prove. They proved quite a bit, going wire-to-wire in an impressive 69-35 road victory.
The Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball season didn’t get off to the best of starts, as the team was blown out by Norwell in the opener. Since then, it’s been a different story. On Friday night, the Lady Vikings defeated LaVille 52-18 for their fifth straight win, second in the Indiana Northern State Conference.
After opening the season on the wrong end of a blowout against defending state champions Norwell, the Tippecanoe Valley girls basketball team returned to Akron on Thursday night to try and get back on track in the team’s home opener. They were able to do so and then some, ending up on the other side of a lopsided contest in a 59-6 win over Northwestern.
Winners of five straight games heading into the sectional opener, the Tippecanoe Valley football team was riding high. Hosting 3A No. 11 Western, the Vikings were ready from the word go. They blitzed their opponents to the tune of a 28-0 halftime lead and never looked back, making a statement with a 38-7 win.

Even with no trips to the red zone and just one offensive touchdown scored, Tippecanoe Valley had no problem dispatching Plymouth 20-3 in the season opener Friday night. Valley’s defense came up big all night long for the visitors, totaling four turnovers to keep the Rockies without a touchdown in the two school’s first ever meeting.
On its own merits, Tippecanoe Valley’s 7-4 record during the 2024 football season wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t good enough as far as the guys coming back are concerned.
