World Record Attempt & ALS Awareness Event Scheduled For July 22

Posted
A local family is seeking to set a Guinness World Record for the longest chain of floating inflatables on Winona Lake in Northern Indiana and raise awareness of ALS.

On July 22, the family of Anje Anglin is leading an attempt to set the world record for the longest chain of floating inflatables. Anglin was diagnosed with ALS in March 2022 and the family seeks to raise awareness of this disease and also funds to assist her with her medical expenses while having fun celebrating community on Winona Lake, according to a provided news release.

Participation in the world record attempt is free. The current world record is 0.62 miles. The attempt this year is to set a 1-mile record. It is anticipated that it will take approximately 1,400 people on inflatables and an hour or two of time on the morning of July 22. The launch from shore to lake will begin at 10 a.m.

The family thanks the Kosciusko County Fair Board for their willingness to allow participants to park at the west side of the fairgrounds and enter the lake from the fairgrounds, stated the release.

Participants must register online in advance. Details and updates will be distributed via email to those that register. Register at https://forms.gle/jTpq4244v5c7r9C17

Participation in this event is at your own risk. Drink and consume responsibly. Children who cannot swim should not participate. All participants should wear a life vest. All inflatables must be tied or clipped to inflatables on either side to form a chain without gaps. All participants must remain in the chain long enough for official surveying and videography required for Guinness submissions to take place.

The family thanks Kosciusko County Fairgrounds, DreamOn Studios, Kimpel & Associates Surveying, Warsaw Police Department, Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the town of Winona Lake.
