Working On The RailroadWhile crossing arms lay off the roadway at the Pope Street crossing, railroad personnel work on the crossing at Winona Avenue in the background. Norfolk Southern railroad began replacing railroad safety crossing warning devices last week. The crossings to be replaced will include Pope Street, Winona Avenue and Market, Center, Main, Fort Wayne, Lyon and Arthur streets. The project will take approximately eight months to complete, with work beginning at the southernmost crossings and moving north. Crews may work on more than one crossing at a time, depending on available manpower. Crossings should remain open at most times, with some intermittent lane restrictions and short-term closures. Additional updates will be provided on the city’s Facebook page (facebook.com/CityofWarsawIN) as more information becomes available.
