Woman In Police Pursuit Hospitalized With Possible Self-Inflicted Neck InjuryA Wabash woman was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital Monday after a pursuit and possible self-inflicted neck injury.
Due to the nature of the incident and out of respect for the family, the woman’s name was omitted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office from the news release provided Wednesday afternoon.
At approximately 9:02 a.m. Monday, the Kosciusko County 911 Communications Center was notified that Wabash County units were in pursuit of a vehicle that was nearing Kosciusko County. The pursuit was initiated because of concerns regarding the 36-year-old woman’s welfare, according to the KCSO news release.
The suspect vehicle proceeded into a field in the 4000 block of East CR 1200S. Officers were able to force entry into the vehicle after it was observed the woman was suffering from a possible self-inflicted neck injury.
The woman became combative with the emergency personnel on scene as they were attempting to render medical aid. She was airlifted by Parkview Samaritan Air Ambulance in critical condition.
Agencies assisting in the matter included KCSO, Pierceton Police Department, Claypool Police Department, Sidney Fire Department, Silver Lake Fire Department, Parkview EMS and Parkview Samaritan Air Ambulance.
