WINONA LAKE – The town of Winona Lake awarded all bids for street paving for 2019 to Phend & Brown Inc. on Friday.
Phend & Brown was the lowest bidder for all 32 paving projects, which totaled $961,155.45.
The other bidders were Niblock Excavating at $1,031,972 and Pulver Asphalt Paving at $1,178,685.50.
The engineer’s estimate for all the projects was $1,307,072.50.
Many of the projects were awarded funding from the state’s Community Crossings Matching Grant program. Launched in 2016, the program provides funding to cities, towns and counties across Indiana to make improvements to local roads and bridges, according to the state’s website.
Community Crossings is a partnership between the Indiana Department of Transportation and Hoosier communities, both urban and rural, to invest in infrastructure projects that catalyze economic development, create jobs and strengthen local transportation networks.
The smallest paving bid was for $2,642.90 for Court Street, while the largest was $88,885.60 for CR 225S.
Other streets to receive some paving include 11th, 12th and 13th streets; Cherry Avenue, Elder Lane, Eola and Timber, Faunn Street, Hilltop Circle, Huffman Street, Jean Street and Kings Court; Kings Highway from Park to Seventh, Seventh to Kings Court and Pierceton Road from Kings Court to Miller; Krista Lane, Mineral Springs Avenue, Oakhill, Sharon Street, Southtown Estates Drive, Western Drive, Widaman Street and William Street; Second and Sixth streets; College Avenue; Esplanade Street from Court to Administration and Canal to Court; West Canal Street; and Lake John Circle and Wood Street.
