Winifred “Winnie” M. Landa, 88, of Grace Village Retirement Community, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, passed away at 8:20 p.m. June 30, 2012, in Grace Village Health Care.
She was born March 10, 1924, in Winona Lake, to Fred and Ruth King. On Feb. 23, 1946, she married Alexander Landa, who died in 1997.
She served in the U.S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post 49, Warsaw. A lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, she worked for many years at Word Music, Winona Lake, Ind. She was a homemaker and a 30-year auxiliary volunteer at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. She was a member of Winona Lake Presbyterian Church and Church of the Good Shepherd, Winona Lake.
She will be lovingly remembered by a daughter, Claudia (and spouse Douglas) Wrobel, Winona Lake; four grandchildren: David Creighton; Brandon (and spouse Rachelle) Creighton; Tara Creighton; and Kerri (and spouse Chris) Wilson; and four great-grandchildren: Shelly and Brady Creighton and Tristan and Preston Wilson. She also was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, officiated by Don Locke, and with military rites by members of the American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 1126, both of Warsaw, and the Indiana ARNG Honor Guard.
