Wilma M. HawleyWilma M. Hawley, age 95, of Warsaw, passed away on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at 1:35 a.m. in her residence.

Wilma was born June 9, 1925, in Claypool, to Isaiah and Bessie A. Knief Warren. She was united in marriage to Marshall Hawley in Warsaw in 1951; he preceded her in death March 9, 1995.

Immediately after graduating from Claypool High School in 1943, Wilma began working at General Electric in Fort Wayne as part of the World War II defense effort. She took great pride in being a “Rosie the Riveter,” making parts for the B29 Supercharger. At the end of WWII, she began working at the United Telephone Company, Warsaw, where she operated their first electric typewriter. Wilma was also employed by the Times-Union as a material handler for over 25 years. But her favorite job was that of being a homemaker. She loved her home and her flowers and being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Wilma attended the Warsaw Wesleyan Church for many years and was a devoted Sunday school teacher to scores of toddlers.

She will be lovingly remembered by three daughters: Deborah Hawley, of Warsaw; Martha (Phil) Klatt, Warsaw; and Sarah (Brett) Boggs, Akron; and one son: Mark (Janet) Hawley, Akron. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren:  Eve (Bill) Mock, Wakarusa; Evan (Stephanie) Boggs, Nappanee; Elyse Boggs, South Bend; Anna (Kieran) Jackson, Warsaw; Andrew Klatt, Warsaw; Matthew Hawley, LaVista, Neb.; Rachel (Kevin) Hemry, Silverdale, Wash.; Michaela Hawley, Akron; and three great-grandchildren: Dillon and Aiden Boggs and Eden Mock.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marshall; and three siblings.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Chaplain John Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
